Default Stripped mounting point for rear subframe stay--Help!

So, in the removal of my rear subframe stay on the drivers side,

the two points where the stay mounts back up are stripped.

For reference, its the two holes at the bottom of the second pic that are stripped. I tried old and new hardware in them, but neither will begin to grab the threads. Can I drive without these bolts installed? If not what are my options? I am not sure if I can try to retap those threads or not. Thanks

Try cleaning up the threads with a tap first.

I'll go buy a tap then.

If the thread is long enough and not stripped all the way put a spacer under the nut so it engages good thread.
