JDM???

Ohlins is a norwegian/european company, also affiliated with Noleen. They make great stuff, very pricey.

i was researching suspension before i bought my car and i came across these. i called ohlins, and they said that they are made specifically for the european market, and that they had no plans to import them to the US. i had an ohlins shock on my Yamaha R1, and in the motorcycle world ohlins is the best you can get.

the coilover setup has an inverted rear shock for less unsprung weight, but i'm not sure of the spring rates since the tech at ohlin's didn't know anything about them.

i do know that when the price is converted to US dollars, they run about $3,300 for the set.

thanks for the feedback, but i belive they are distributing the coilovers for z33 in japan.(the specific modle for z33 ofourse)
so ppl who wantz it can just import it from japan.

they make top end stuff for sure, but a bit too costly to make them worth it IMHO. There are many comparable units for far less money that can be serviced here in North America should something go wrong.

Z1,
the Cusco, Zeal and HKS shocks dont even compare to the Ohlins, the Ohlins are far superior in rebound and compression dampening. The Ohlins is a race shock that can be used on the street where as the Cusco, Zeal, HKS etc are street shocks that can be used on the track. Ohlins has a North American distributor and they can be serviced in the US by them and their dealers.

I contacted Ohlins about getting shocks for my racecar and was told they currently dont have anything for the 350Z but they could build some. For a number of reasons I decided to get JRZ shocks for the racecar but Ohlins are just as good.

GY-Z;
Ohlins USA is saying no application (at least for race shocks), Ohlins does make some street/track shocks that are less expensive than their true race shocks, maybe this is what you are seeing. I know that Ohlins Japan developed a coilover kit for the Honda S2000 for street/track use, using this less expensive shock, possibly they have developed the same for the 350Z. Ohlins USA may not be aware of this yet as they primarily deal with race shocks.

Contact Ohlins at:

Motorsports Spares (US Distributor for Ohlins)
101 North Gasoline Alley
Indianapolis, IN 46222
317-241-7500

shocks@motorsportsspares.com

Let me know what you find out. You may want to wait until the JRZ shocks are available, they are as good as the Ohlins but cost less. I should have mine within the next month (hopefully).

GYZ,
Just found the Ohlins webside:

www.Ohlins.com

They dont currently list an application under their "road/track" suspension kits (this is what I was talking about in the above post). Looks like they have a lot of cars including the S2000 and Miata but nothing for the 350Z yet.

Also found another contact for you, Ohlins has an office in the US in addition to their tech center in Indianapolis:

Ohlin USA
703 C Old Spartanburg Road
Hendersonville, NC 28792
828-692-4525

Dont know if their NC office can help you, I think they primarily deal with NASCAR teams. I would try the Indy distributor first

Default Along

really appreciate for those information u gave to me.
i am alittle bite confused here.
so they do made race shocks and street/track shocks?
i wasn't beware of that b4.
but the price i saw on hyperrev is 298000 japanese yen.
which approxiamtely = 2760 US.
that seems to be pretty expensive for me, or does the race track ur referring to is usaully more than that?

Japanese tuner's such as Mine's and Impul use ohlins suspension
very pricey~~ I also considered ohlins before, but I was unsure how it will perform compare to Cusco, HKS, JIC's.

I have been following Ohlins in Japan. I had them on my previous Z32 TT and loved them.

1/ Japan site ... http://www.carrozzeriajapan.co.jp/ohlins/ohlins.htm

2/ Impul site... http://www.impul.co.jp/

Wish I knew somebody who had them to compare with my S-tune setup. I hope to find somebody ... or wait for the R-tune.
