Thumbs up hks ls+ coilovers/nismo sways...review..pics

let me just start off by saying that I have a different car now with the coilovers and sway bars installed. the skinny…no bounce, no body roll, no harshness, and NO understeer.
The car is absolutely perfect…as in OMFG awesome. So far, the car has handled just about everything including rough roads (casual driving) without harshness or bounce, and hard cornerning (auto x style) staying in sync with your input with no understeer what so ever…so you can really go much deeper into the turns and get more exit speed.

I paid 2300 for everything…coilovers were 1800 and the rest includes installing the coilovers, sways and an alignment. I specifically told the installer that I wanted a streetable setup that I can track occasionally…and the shop dialed in the settings to match perfectly. The nismo sways I picked up from performance nissan…but they don’t look much different than stock except their silver and say nismo. I can’t really say if this eliminated the roll or the coilovers because both went in at the same time.

As for the coilovers, well having tein flex in the past on another car I can say from experience that they were noisy, hard to access for adjustment (rears), and too stiff to be a daily driver…don’t get me wrong they performed really well and they have a lot of good qualities (reputable, edfc, variety). I wanted to stay as close to stock as possible (daily driver) and have something that can perform too….well the performance is definately there when you need it but not noticeable (harsh) when your cruising.

I am 100 percent sure I made the right choice, and thanks to djk for keeping me updated on the ls+ he has had them for some time now...and still no noise...thats a big plus. That’s the thing that bothered me about the teins, you could hear them squish as they were absorbing the bumps in the road and then the creeking set in after 3 months due to upper ball joint wear and tear. the hks are quiet, don't even know they are there...until you need them.

Bottom line…you won’t be disappointed if you are looking for a good street setup for a daily driver and have the performance on demand when you feel the urge or need to push the car into corners. Since I really haven’t technically tracked the car I can’t give a review on that aspect but I have pushed the car very hard into turns and the car responded very predictably…as in “is that all you got”… I believe my overall traction is improved too….even when launching the car off the line…which I only do when prompted…or feel like it I could not be happier about this mod and would highly recommend these coilovers….rw…peace out

Nice review RW! Your car looks great! Can you reach through the stock 17 inchers to the dampening adjustment **** on the rears?

18s? You sure, those look exactly like the factory 17s.

My front and rear were never even. Ive a lot of room in the front compared with the rears being tucked in I need to get a rear profile shot one of these days showing the camber...

Where did you get the LS + from?

I am in Socal and my supplier says it has not been released yet.

Thanks for the review.

one other thing to note about the LS+ is that the rear dampening adjustment is near the bottom of the shock, instead of the top. this makes adjustment easier (actually it makes it possible). also, if you notice the design of the rear shock, it is an inverted design, in the sense that all of the weight is in the rod (the chrome part). this reduces unsprung weight. other brands have all the weight in the bottom, and a small rod to connect to the pillowball.

i have them, and i love them. mine are set to full soft front and rear, because i enjoy a plush ride, but they are still definitely stiffer than stock and have absolutely no body roll.

yep, they are 17's...my bad...i thought base came with 17's and all other models had 18's....anyways, i proly go with 18's when i am ready for new rims and tires...the more i drive the more i like!!!

cpt eric...check with your distributor but you might have to get part number from hks usa...i know they had a shipment of 10 sets but i don't know who got them except for one..hehehehe
