Default Hawk HPS brake pads

My stock 2004 touring pads have anti-rattle clips on both pads (per wheel).

The Hawk HPS's only have one pad with a anti-rattle clip.

The brake caliper bracket is clearly designed to accomodate 2 pads with clips.

I installed the one Hawk pad with a clip on the outside of the rotor, and the pad without the clip on the inside.

All appears to be fine. There is no noise, no dust, and braking appears to be better.

Also, I have read in this forum that it might be necessary to install the shim(s) from the old pads to the new. It appeared that the new Hawk pads had shims attached already.

Did I install them correctly?

I positioned mine the same way but I did put the stock shims back on the Hawk pads as I have on all brake applications.
