Im happy with mine. From what ive been reading around the forums, it seems that the JIC's perform better on the track. Some people may argue that the ride is too harsh, but im at around 75% stiffness in the rear, and its not too bad. I am gonna lower the dampening tho. There are people who are running full softness, and say its fine. They are 15 way adjustable, so u can tune it to your tastes.

Look in the private classifieds and there is a guy selling a barely used set for 1200. I got mine new for around 1800, so if you want them, u better jump on that deal before someone else steals it.

I had the JIC's on my last car and they rattled too. I tried everything from wrapping the coils in tubing, swapping pillowball mounts, swapping dampers (at JIC) etc. The only thing that solves the problem is taking them off the car.
JIC knows their coilovers rattle, when they told you on the phone that no one else is complaining of this, they're not being honest. It has been reported by many that some part of the system makes noise.

those of you who are having noise issues....
did you have any problems with the install? Did you follow torque specs? Did the tq specs seem unusually high or low?

I'm not accusing anyone of a poor install.... but it'd be nice to clear it from the list of possibilities.

Also... did the noise start right away, or after a few rides? after a few weeks? months? track days?

my mech has tighten the top nut of the strut, added the oem lower rubber mounts in between the spring perch and lower control arm and even tubings around the spring.....still RATTLING!!

have anyone tried adding rubber tubes to the bottom section of the spring where it sits on the perch??
the perch itself is bolt/tighten to the control arm so it shouldn't rattle....could it be the spring jumping up and down on the perch?

Yes, i believe its the spring moving around inside the perch. Try adjusting spring load. I did that and it eliminated alot of the sound, although i still get a little when goin over more substantial bumps. Im takin car to the shop today to see what they can do to eliminate all of it. They mentioned that they can put some sort of cushion inbetween springs and perch (Not OEM rubber mounts). I guess ill just have to wait and see.

BTW... What stiffness is everyone running with these?

It's not the spring moving around inside the perch. If it was installed properly, the spring would have been preloaded in order to install the damper in the rear.

i recreated the exact sound the other day. It comes from the strut plate. The springs have nothing to contribute as long as there thight. The holes that the bolts hook up to are too big. If you take the nuts off were it's attached to the body and shake it you will feel and hear the sound. No matter how tight you crank that mount down it will never be more forceful then the cars weight. My solution was to put a thin peice of rubber tape around the very top of the bolt attached to the body. With a thin strip placed were the contact is made from the plates this will dampen any side to side movement and thus eliminate the sound. I would suggest this fix to any one with jics. After months of putting rubber of varing sizes between all contact points i've finally found that if everything is installed properly all of that is pointless, the noise is from what i explained. Give it a try let me know if these results are not a dream.

I was thinking of tightening the bolt that connects the strut to the pillow-ball mount. I'm guessing that might hinder movment of the mount. any other suggestions?
not enjoying uninvited noise!
I also had JIC installed with the same rattling problem. I also talked with another person who had the same problem and no help from JIC Tech. They told my installed the noise was from the Deck lid. Appears to me that they are just ignoring the problem.

Thanks for others for suggested solutions. I may try some before giving up on the JIC system all together.

I installed them myself and they blamed my install job. I then drove 7 hrs down to JIC and they reinstalled them. They then blamed it on "poor chassis welds"..
They eventually stopped returning my calls.

I have a sound similar to that on my G35 Sedan w/ HKS LS Coilovers. Could you show a picture of what you did? Did you tape only the top portion in the engine bay? Did you need to remove the coilover and add rubber tape from the underside in the wheel well also? The sound is driving me crazy!!! BTW- what type of rubber tape did you use? Thanks in advance!

Mine have been quiet except for once when the lower rear control arm bolt was loose! Only myself to blame there as I did the install.

Since then, it's been really quiet.

BTW, I used the factory rear lower rubber boots under the adjustable spring perch (which is mounted on the bottom within the control arm "bucket"). I'm running linear springs in the rear.

the noise we're discussing is caused by the rear struts, nothing in the engine bay. Regaurding the fix in the rear, i just put rubber tape around the very top of the bolts fixed in the body. Only make it wide enough to cover the area of the strut plate that contacts the bolt. if u make it too wide the nutz with tread into it.
good luke with it. trial and error
