Question Brake Pads?

I was wondering how long your stock brake pads are lasting? I've got a 2004 Performance with 17.000 miles and the brake pads only have about 20% left in the front. I'm not racing or hard on the brakes either. Anybody else have this prob?

Pad wear depends on a variety of factors such as driving style, traffic conditions, etc. I'm at 22k miles and I'm on the squealers with about 2mm of pad life in the front. I do autocross once a month with a few track events in between. Most of my mileage is freeway commuting which is a lot easier on the brakes since I don't have to brake that much. Luckily, my friends got me Porterfield R4-S pads for the fronts and rear for my bday...just in time.

With all the friggin' brake dust the stock pads put out, I'm surprised they lasted that long. Usually, on all the hondas, toyotas, and nissans I've had in the past the pads have lasted at least 50,000 miles. With performance pads though, you will only get about half that. At least it stops really quick.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess that's what you get with a performance car. Are the Porterfield R4-S pads better than stock and put out less brake dust? If so, where do you get them?
