Exclamation .: Brakes for our Greddy TT 350Z. AP, Stoptech...?!

Once again, need your help.

Should we go with that 6-piston from AP RACING ( http://www.nissanclub.com/350Z/featu...0zbrakeupgrade ) or should we look for another brand/model?!

Please, gimme some tips...

Andre

If you're going to do it, do it right. IMO, StopTech makes the best brakes on the market.

Woud you choose a 4-piston instead of a (AP Racing) 6-piston front brakes?!

I found this @ Stoptech...

Nissan 350Z 2003+, Four wheel brake upgrade, 355x32 floating directional front rotors and 355x32 floating directional rear rotors with billet aluminum hats, ST40 four piston high performance calipers, front and rear stainless steel DOT compliant brake lines, AXXIS Ultmate brake pads. Painted red or black calipers. Slotted or Cross-drilled rotors. Requires 18 inch wheels. Add $100 per pair for drilled rotors.

Lemme know...

Personally, yes, I would. Perhaps the J Ritt can chime in here, but number of pistons does not mean greater stopping potential. 4 equally sized pistons with a rigid caliper can produce just as much clamping force as a 6-piston caliper.

IMO, number of pistons is overrated to a point. Each manufacturer claims to use more pistons in their brakes in hopes to catch your interest. Rotorex makes a 10 piston kit for the MINI. Who needs 10 pistons?!

AP Racing carbon/carbon brakes are used in professional leagues. StopTech has not had a niche on the market for very long, but they are building an excellent reputation.

Or a set of GREX/GReddy ones..which we are letting go at cost

Seriously though, I've had cars with Stoptech's before..top notch stuff indeed. I currently have AP on my 2 cars and have nothing but rave reviews of them as well.

Tuning Brasil,
It sounds to me that you are basing your choice on a number of preconceptions that may not be true, or that you may not fully understand. This is very common though, and is the reason why we put our technical page together to give people some insight!

Please take a read of the articles on this page. Based on what you've said, I would start with the following articles:

Overview article on big brake kit selection:
http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/...ons_122701.htm

Why balance matters:
http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/...erformance.htm

Choosing front and rear upgrades carefully:
http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/...tter120601.htm

Let me know if you have any questions. StopTech, AP, and Alcon (manufacturers of the Greddy kit) all use quality components.

Available brakes are Stoptech, Wilwood, AP Racing, Alcon/Greddy , Brembo GT, Endless, and I think this is it, sorry if I left someone out. My choice will most likely be Wilwood, Baer still hasn't came out with their's, and Stoptech's looks pretty good.

Tuning Brasil - I have used the AP rear brakes on a Z once so far (just street driving). Other than looking pretty, it felt no different than it did before the brake install.

Brembo, Endless, Rotora, Grex, AP, Stoptech, Project Mu all offer rear kits
