Thumbs up Track Review: Stoptech slotted 2-piece Aerorotor DRK for Brembos

Installed the new rotors on Friday along with fresh pads (Cobalt GTR spec.VR), and went to Summit Point Saturday and Sunday to instruct. Installation was pretty straightforward, you just have to remember to have the parking brake off in order to remove the rears.

Now for the review: all I have to say is "good god!" I've run these pads all year, and I've been quite happy with the linear brake torque and high-temp capabilities of the pad, but with the new slotted aerorotors, the brakes gripped hard all weekend long. Lap after lap, I'd hit 130-135 (speedo indicated) on the straight, and brake at the 2nd braking marker with room to spare. Even coming into T5 at 105mph (really short braking zone), the car slowed like I had a parachut attached. Coming into T10 at 110-115, dab the brakes, turn in at 80-85 and mash the throttle. All the braking zones at Summit Point are downhill too...

While I picked up a lot of speed in many turns this weekend, I know the new brakes helped me in dropping my lap times down by 3 seconds.

So in conclusion, you will not be disappointed. Great quality product, and worth every dollar in my opinion.

Mmmm... chocolate Brembos...

Thanks for the review, how much were the rotors and where did you get them?

I've never seen Brembos that brown!! Way to go! Do you mind sharing what kind of times you run there?

Do they get brown from overheating?

Pretty much. After lots of hard braking, you will essentially "cook" the paint.

John,
Thanks for the nice review. I'm glad the rotors served you well!

Here are the details of the parts...
http://www.stoptech.com/press_releas...drkrelease.htm

They are lighter, less expensive, slotted, and have better metallurgy than the stock Track Model rotors. If you have a Track Model, this is one of the biggest "no-brainer" mods when it comes time to replace your rotors. Also remember that after you buy our 2-piece rotors the first time, you only have to replace the iron disc portion of the rotor the next time they wear out...and they are even cheaper!

ps Nice brown calipers! Mine look very close to that as well.
