Default Buying a Z from g35

About a year ago i was in the market for a Z and decided to buy a G35 instead because of the 4 seats. After having the G35 for a year now,i still have the bug for a Z, so i will be selling my G35 and buying a Z.

Back about a year ago i remember there being a problem with the wheel allignment of the 350z? something about tires getting worn out unevenly? did nissan fix this problem or ? any info would be great. is there anything else i should know about taht has changed in the past year 1/2ish or so?

I am not keeping the stock wheels on the car, will the feathering issue still come into play even after changing the wheels to 19s?

From what i can tell, there are a less number of incidents with 04's when compared to 03s. When comparing 05's to 04's, there are even less reported incidents. The degree in which the tire feathering is prominent varies. Some people say they have to replace their tires every 3K miles, others say might say 10K. Some people have successfully had their 04's & 05's covered by warranty by the dealer. Other dealers won't touch it.

Even still, I think if you can afford a G35 then you can definitely afford a new 05 Z. In the event that it does have problems is minimal. Since you did say you were changing the wheels out, I think there have been little to no cases on 19" wheels on the Z. I distinctively remember a thread correlating bigger tires & lowering the car to remove any kind of feathering.

i always thought lowering a car increases cambering and increases the amount of tire feathering... is it different for our Z's? ive been holding off from lowering the car because i was afraid of getting too much camber

Its the toe that does it, not the camber. The only way to really fix it right is to buy about $1200 of adjustable suspension parts.

Yeah, my mistake. Even still... I don't think it's that big of a deal, especially if he picks up an 05. With him putting 19s on it, I'm pretty sure he would also try to lower it some, which will fix the problem.

I got the feathering problem on my 04 Z but when I went to the dealer they said that if you start seeing the problem 10K miles early that they'll replace for free. My luck is that I didn't notice the problem till the Z had 28K miles on it, so I just decided to buy new wheels. The service maneger said that as long as you get an alignment done every 12K miles on the Z it shouldn't give you a feathering problem.
