I hate to be the one to tell you this, but they knew that you wouldn't (didn't) get approved the day that you bought you car. They let you take the car off the lot so that they could bring you back in and get you at a VERY high APR. The bank that does the high APR gives them a bigger cut.

Try these places to get you own financing:

www.autocreditfinders.com
www.eloan.com
www.capitaloneautofinance.com

Ditto on the credit union. I get jerked around by the local Nissan dealer, but my credit union treated me like gold, new car loan under 5% and I can assure you, I do not have anywhere near perfect credit - though I do have a great job.

So +1 on credit union.

+2 on credit union. I am financed through my jobs credit union http://www.cafcu.org/ not only are they the best in customer service. They strived for the best possible APR. If you don't believe it, I have $20k financed @ 3.89% and I purchased it when I was 22 with an avg credit score. Can't be happier with them.

Nissan hosed you man. For the future, have another financial institute as a back up so this wouldn't happen again. Nissan financial will take advantage of the weak.

Yeah, check out your local credit union and you will get your $4K back if you don't buy from them. They can't keep your money if they didn't sell you anything.

I dont really see how you got hosed...

You should get your cash back, and you basically some free time with a Z. If anything they got hosed because you racked up some miles on a new car.

Time wasted on negotiating and paper work adds up. Like me, I have no time to deal with that stuff. I've heard this story many times about dealers asking for cars back, it's never fun.

Actually, he hasn't been "hosed" yet...He's being set up to be "hosed". The scam works like this.

1. The dealer runs your credit when you buy the car, he already knows that you are not getting that low APR.
2. He lets you take the car off of the lot so that you fall in love with it.
3. He brings you back in with the "financing fell through" scam.
4. He magically finds this bank somewhere that "just" let you in thanks to him, but at a higher APR. Of course he isn't telling you that this new bank is cutting him a bigger piece of the action that the original bank.

If you can, get you own financing and come back with a blank check from your lending institution and simply pay off the remaining balance (since you gave them 4k already).

Here is a link to a VERY good website that goes into all kinds of scams at the stealers...I mean dealers.

http://www.carbuyingtips.com/carintro.html

Your case is under a section titled: ""We found you a lower APR on your car loan, come down and resign the papers..."

Good luck,

-LamaZ

yeah sounds like a scam /sarcasm

fact is some people's credit doesn't qualify for the car they want, but the dealer tries to make it work since they themselves have spent hours working on it and want to exhaust every avenue available to sell the car and get the deal bought by a lender. Sometimes we don't "guess" the correct financing arrangement the first time. I have seen a lot of scummy people in the car business. Most of them are the people buying though.

take you buyer's order to a CU though, you will have to sign up for an account most likely, but no big deal. if they give you a loan, go back to the dealer and see what they have to offer, what ever the best deal is, go with it.
