Default 05 Z price

Hey guys I just got back from the dealer and they offered me a 05 Z grand touring roadster with gps for $38k plus tax. The sticker on the car is $42,200.00, so basically they are taking $4,200 off sticker. Think its a good deal guys? I also asked them when will they have the 06's and they said December.

Well originally they offered me 39.8k and i was like na so they came back with 38k. They also brought out the invoice for the car and it says they are paying 38.8k for it, I dunno how reliable them invoices are...

As for the payments, I did not discuss it with them as that is all relative since its based on your credit. To me the most important thing is the price of the car itself.

It sounds like a decent deal to me. Can you do better? Maybe, but thats almost always the case. Just depends on whether you want to spend your time bargaining or driving!

Negotiate off of the dealer invoice price not a discount from MSRP.
Fair price depends on supply vs demand.
I paid $500 over invoice (beginning of the model year) - that was fair for dealer and myself.
Invoice on 2005 Enthusiast is $26861 inc. freight plus options, tax, dealer profit.
Good luck.

Dealer wont come off of the 38k price they gave me yesterday, I am going to wait a few weeks and come back to them again. So far the car that I am wanting has been sitting in their showroom for like 4 months.

Did you make a firm offer for the car? Did you say “I’m prepared to give you $37,000 now?”

Yeah I did and I guess since they say its already 800 under invoice they wont go any lower.

I think once the 06's start arriving they will change their mind. Here in the Detroit area nobody buys Z's so I dont think that car is going anywhere. Besides if worst comes to worst I could always get an 06.

I bought my 05 touring roadster 35,900 without GPS. If you can get yours 37K with GPS you are the man! Because dealer price on GPS is 2K.

Do the math...((38,000 + tax + title + reg) + (38,000 x APR) - trade in - down payment) / # of months

Then you did your best. If the dealer is holding out for another $1,000, assume that he knows the market, and what the market will bring.

Basically, the invoice is just a ploy dealers use to make you think they don't make a lot of money on cars. Imagine running a business where you only make a few hundred dollars per sale with all that overhead. Doesn't make sense. At "invoice" price, dealers are generally making about $3-$5 grand through factory rebates, incentives and margin retention. Look carefully at the piece of paper they claim is an invoice. It's just a print-out with no factory logo, payment terms, etc.

38K sounds like a pretty good price. I paid 39,400 in early June and that was the lowest of six dealers in So. Cal. I wouldn't wait. You're very close to the lowest price if not there. Just get it and enjoy.
