Default Nissan Employee Discount

Does anyone know anything about Nissan's Employee Discounts??
I have a friend who works at Nissan, but I heard the discounts aren't really worth it.
If that's the case, I'm considering getting an used '04.
Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

You are better off printing invoice prices from edmunds.com and demanding $500-1000 OFF those prices for 05's or no more than $500 over those prices for the '06. I am not sure what the employee discount is but I doubt it is the best deal you can get.

there is a VPP discount available, but that is like a ford/chvy supplier discount (xplan for ford)

The dealers here are advertising employee pricing like the big three, butif you notice the parent companies of the big 3 dealers are who put the commercials on tv. The import companies are not doing that, only individual dealers. So unless you qualify for the supplier discount just become an educated buyer like already said.

My company is in the employee program(VPP)...you can find details on it at http://www.insidenissan.com.

It appears to be a much better deal for Nissan employees than for business associates.

my wife's cousin works @ the nissan factory in ten. we just bought her a nissan and the discount for "extended family" was 3% under dealer invoice. i think the discount for "close family" is more. hopefully i'll be using the discount next year on a Z. until then im just going to lurk around the forums

Each time I hear the words “Employee Discount,” “End of Year Sale” or “Clearance Sale,” I turn ON my BS detector. Call it whatever your want, but dealers must make a profit selling cars. After all, none are charitable organizations. Buyer beware.

Actually, I work at a dealership that had to deal with GMs employee pricing sale for the past 2+ months. Let me say this: it sucked bad for the salespersons (we didn't make ****) and it wasn't all that great for the dealership either.

dont kid yourself, dealerships were making pretty damn good money with a nice increase in volume. Backends skyrocketed at good stores...at least everywhere my buddies worked. Dealers were compensated a certain amount for each car sold at GMS

Maybe the owner did well, and of course the increase in volume was nice overall, but it still wasn't all that great and for us lowly salespeople it sucked. Backend bonus checks (mostly based on volume) weren't too bad though, but it didn't make up for the loss on the front.

Yea I was wondering how all this employee pricing was going to chance the car market. I think fewer and fewer people are going to be willing to go back to paying over invoice after all these months of invoice pricing. I think from now on more consumers will be aware they can do MUCH better than MSRP.

The GM employee pricing KILLED what was already poor resale values on GM vehicles. Then the other domestics got into the game and their poor resale was also slaughtered.

GM is going down a toilet, and this stupid sale just made things worse for them. I'm just glad I primarily sell Toyotas.
