Post Insurance premiums? What do you pay?

Hello Folks! I've been interested in the 350z for a while now, but decided I would have fun with a different toy first, my GTP! Really fun car to drive when modified! I have got to say, I love FI!!

I kind of browsed through some of the threads, but must have overlooked any insurance questions. Sorry, didn't do a search! :P

I'm interested in possibly picking a nice 350z up next year, money permitting. I'll probably end up keeping my GTP as a torquie winter beater since the Z is RWD.

I'd end up looking to buy a Coupe Touring, Track, or Enthusiast. Those are all the ones that strike me as what fits me well.

So, what did some of you guys/gals end up paying for insurance premiums on the Z compared to your last car? I know I could just call up my insurance agent and find out, but I just want to know for the sake of knowing what others pay.

Thanks!

-Brian

P.S. New guy to the forums! I come from good ol' ClubGP.

You can also get free online quotes. That's what I just did. These are the quotes I got for a 6-month policy for a 2003 Nissan 350Z. I forget all the particulars I put in, but I think that's what makes the most difference, not the car. For me, I get a "good driver" discount and drive only 2 miles to work.

esurance............751.00
Geico...............837.80
Progressive.........851.90

Kind of interesting...the ones I always see on the commercials (Geico and Progressive) came up way short against the one I had never heard of (esurance). I also plan an getting a quote from my current insurer, Permanent General.

I pay $600 a year. I've gotten 1 ticket when I was 16 years old [25 now] and the discounts I have are passive restraint, new vehicle, accident free, multi-car, and long term customer, and I'm a giiirrrlll. My 2000 Eclipse GT was $300 more a year, which really surprised me!

This thread might help you out a bit depending on your age:

Plaz, you just went to particular websites and did that, or all Progressive?

Wow, $600 a year is cheap! Sure you get the 25 year old discount, but still.

I'm 21, almost 22. I actually JUST got a speeding ticket, but have to go to court on Nov. 2nd because it was 28 over. They say I was going 83 in a 55, I say I was going 75 in a 55. I just want the points off, that's all. I've also been in one accident, but not my fault at all. (Old guy hit me head on)
http://grandprix.gameagon.com for pics

Anyway, I pay around $200 every 3 months for the ol' GTP which isn't bad, the only thing is, I'm under my parents yet as I'm going to school and not off on my own yet. I'll have to hit up Progressive or whatever website(s) that Plaz did for a quote on my own.

Thanks for the help!

I'm 20...have had 2 speeding tickets, a "too fast for conditions", an accident (that wasn't my fault @ age 16) that got me an improper left turn citation, a comprehensive claim of $4k for weather-related incident & I have full coverage in my own name (not under 'rents) with $500 deductibles & I pay $1260 every 6 months for my '05 z-coupe....compared to $1390 for my old '04 Accord v6 Cpe.

(Passive-restraint, Good student, Defensive driving course discounts applied)

Correct. Age and zip code are the two major factors. Metropolitan areas (such as Baltimore-DC) will be more expensive than if you live in the middle of, say, Montana.

My 2005 35th is $40 every year cheaper than my 1998 Honda SUV.

$310/six months with a good policy as opposed to state required minimums

As are your policy limits, inclusions, and deductions.

If you have a 25/50 policy you'll pay a bit more for a 250/500 one - seriously just a bit more. Adding uninsured motorist is not required here in SoCal but it is. The figure I've heard is 25% of motorist are uninsured but I have yet to know someone who has been hit by one of the other 75% - of the three people I know who have been hit seriously hard over the last three years all of them have been hit by uninsured (and undocumented) drivers.

Finally your deduction is a big cost saver too. If you have a $250 deductable you can save a bunch by going to $1000. The difference between the two deducables will go a long way to covering the ten times higher policy if you go with the larger one.

Being a home owner means that you have to protect your assets.

I pay a little less than $1200 a year for my 2005 350z and a 2002 Pathfinder. No tickets or wrecks(that were my fault) with very good coverage.

Every time Progressive tries to raise my rates I threaten to leave them. I've done this twice and they've come back with an even better price than I had been paying.

lol... wow! So instead of them wanting to increase your rates, you got them to come down. Now that's sweet!!
