do a search. there are PLENTY of topics about this. Try these "common" issues:
tire feathering
window streaking
transmission problems
axle ticking
lead foot syndrome

I had my 06 for a month and no problem yet. After reading this site, no major problem for 06 model. Good luck with your purchase.

Welcome to the forum. After the summer of 2006? That gives you about 9 months to read and study ALL the posts here. You’ll be a 350Z-pro by them.

New here as well. Looking to buy a Z in the spring. I have read up on some of the problems, but what exactly is tire feathering? Is that caused by the tires not being aligned properly? Also, I will be looking into an 03 or 04. I know the 03's have some tranny probs, is there a quick way to tell if the tranny has ben swapped out for a new one? Also, I assume the car still needs to be under the warrenty for them to swap it out, is this correct?

Do search on feathering; we are all sick of talking about it.

Though I own an 03 that has been great, I'd advise on buying an 04 or later.
