Best time to buy a 06 z?
Hey guys. Ive finally settled on my decision to purchase an 06 z this year but just cant seem to pull the trigger. Reasons being that I always hear its best to wait until the end of the model year for a better bargain, but then you run into only getting a deal with the inventory which is on the lot. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
It all depends on what you're looking for. If you want uncommon options such as navigation etc. or uncommon trim (GTc is the only one that comes to mind) and would only want the car in one specific color, then yes, the longer you wait, the tougher it would be to get exactly what you want. And that's the point. Think about it; why else are substantial discounts offered by all automakers at the end of the model year? They are for those who aren't picky on what they're looking for in a specific car and are flexible on their choice as long as the price is right.
EDIT: Good point, David

Well you waited 20 months. A couple more won't hurt.

Yeah, you will probably second guess yourself no matter what you do, so just go out today and buy the first one you see.
They're giving insane deals left and right. Most people are getting the car for $invoice to $invoice + $500. Depends on your trade in (if any). If that's not good enough for you, buy a cheaper car
2007.
Seriously. I just bought my first Z and found a 2005 (enthusiast) with 3400 miles and a 100K Nissan warranty for well under 23K. I feel this deal was well under what a dealer would give for --essentially-- a new car. Let someone else take the major depreciation hit and buy one that is a year old.

actually i signed up here about 2 years ago because several friends are members on here along with my friends shop MRC Motorsports. I had a wrx which wound up being stolen, and have been in the market for something new as of late.

Best times to get good prices with the least hassle are post holidays (Jan - Feb) and at the end of model year. (September-ish) Note that I said with least hassle. You can always get a good deal if you are willing to take the time to research, negotiate, and play dealerships until you find one willing to meet your deal.
