Finding a used Z
Hey guys im new here, my name is Sumit, I am 18 and from NJ
I want to buy a used daytona blue Z sometime this winter or early spring 07
this will be the 1st car I have ever purchased on my own (no help from mom and dad)
I had a few questions that you may be able to help with
1) On a used car how much can I expect to bargin?
2) What is a good way to locate a good DB Z at a dealer, most of the dealers around me dont have used blue's, or even new ones
3) For a driver that has been driving for 1 year, no accidents or points, what should i expect for insurance on a Z
not sure if these questions seem idiotic, but id appreciate the help
and lastly the rease ive joined this forum is because just like the rest of you I LOVE THE Z

Determine how much the car is worth to you. Make an offer.

If you limit yourself to one color, you may be out of luck. More that half of all 350Zs are silver.

Haven't the faintest. Call your agent and ask.

I haven't made a final decision yet but I have an '03 DB Z that I may be trying to sell around the time you will be looking for one. I currently live in Northern Virginia but may be moving up to NYC later this year. Anyways, I'm currently in Korea and will be for the next month but my '03 DB has about 35,000 miles (Purchased the Nissan Extended Warranty that extends it to I believe 7 years/100,000 miles and you get a rental car whenever your car is in the shop for warranty work). I haven't done much performance wise because I'm not really into that. I have added an Alpine Stereo and two JL Audio 8" subwoofers and changed the color of the dash lighting scheme to silver/blue and added a 3M clear bra. Check out this link to see what I'm talking about regarding my guage cluster. https://my350z.com/forum/exterior-and-interior/163220-blue-leds-on-digital-guage-2.html.
Anyways, hit me up with a PM or something when you're serious about purchasing and maybe we can reach a deal or something.

I got the dealer to come down $4500 and follow me to my house once the deal was done to make copies of my drivers license. Be patient and find a Z you like at a dealership that is motivated. Be ready to walk out on a deal. The dealer may try to take advantage of your age.
thanks guys
the walk away thing really does help
when my dad bought his acura tl last year, he wanted another $1500 off the price they gave him, after countless "we cant afford to reduce any more on the car" he left, next day "i spoke to my sales manages and we are gunna do it for that price"

i am running into the same problem as the thread starter. Every dealer ive gone to the sales person is a real jerk. I test drove an 04 DB Z (car had a crack in the front bumper and the paint was terrible of the front of the car)nonetheless i figured i could get it fixed and i was going to buy it on the spot. i over heard the sales manager told the guy that i couldnt afford it. Which he probably thought because im so young(18). And the sales guy changed completely and wouldnt work with me. They wanted 22,000 for it. So he comes out from the backroom with a KBB value saying that the cars worth 25k and its in excellent condition. And they wouldnt budge in price. I pointed out every flaw in the car and got up and left. Id say dealer choice is important when it comes to buying these cars at such a young age. Be firm and dont get taken advantage of.
