We just bought a '06 RSX Type-S (black/black) in August for my wife to use as her car. I can't say enough good things about it, other than I hate the RSX name. It's an Integra folks, c'mon. Supposedly, Acura changed the name to brand it up for an older, more image-conscience demographic. What a freakin' joke. It's as edgy and fun as any Integra ever was. Your typical cell phone yapping, Starbucks latte drinking American driver looking for a luxury "Acura" would take one drive in this thing and run from it like a vampire doused with holy water.

In other words, it really rocks. Very quick, nimble and pure. No heated seats, auto dimming mirrors, auto headlights, or any of that junk. You drive it, and it is fun. And it has the best shifter I've ever experienced. It reminds me a lot of my old '87 325is in many ways.

My '04 MB C230 Sedan (6-speed) feels soft and slow by comparison -- and gets 4 MPG less. I find myself "stealing" the Integra from the wife as often as I can

As to comparing it to a Z, the Z is substantially more expensive (even in base form), so I don't know if the two cars are really comparable. I just never thought about them in the same sentence. The Z is a lot faster and more comfortable, though it doesn't offer the edgy and fun driving experience that the Acura does. They're just two different cars.

As for me, our Benz is getting replaced in the Spring by an '07 Z so I will have both. Life will be good, hehe.

FYI, we looked at Civics first. Honda dealers wanted a "market adjustment" over MSRP for the Si versions and would only go a couple of hundred under MSRP for the more plain LX and EX models. And residual values were for some reason terrible, meaning that the lease payments were astronomical even on the base Civic models. We politely thanked them for their time and left.

Acura dealers were more reasonable about the RSX. In the end, we were able to get the RSX Type-S for $300 over invoice and lease it for less per month than a Civic EX coupe would have cost. It was a no brainer. If you can still find one you'll get a great deal. The hype over the Civic is dying down but you're still going to pay MSRP for an Si, so there is no real cost difference.

I guess most of the people are trying hard to help but your comparison is just kind of hmm weird....cuz usually people go from RSX to Z ...never seen anyone getting hard time choosing RSX and Z ...For most people who can really afford a Z ,i doubt that they will turn around and bother to ask a Rsx..not saying rsx is bad but just different level... its all depend on what you need 4 seats or 2 ... fwd or rwd.....i dont think gas is an issue since you can control your right foot ..so.. but since u have hard time deciding b/w rsx and z ... i would say go for the cheaper one (rsx)....so then u wont lose too much if u regret.... but once u regret on Z the resale value is gonna be bad (07 will be out new engine new stuff ) unless u find someone really like your car otherwise not worth it......anywayz hope this works for you... and hope will see your wondeful new ride soon ...

Actually, I think the comparison is pretty valid. Sure, the RSX is slower, but the interior is HELLA NICER than our Z's. The 05+ RSX has some of the best seats ever, and they're better than our Z seats as well. And it's very practical.

And it doesn't give you the "I'm driving a Z so I will act like I'm driving a Ferrari" complex that alot of Z owners have. Seriously...

I was dead set on an RSX Type S 05 back in late 2005, the blue one. I loved the 05 design! Very exquisite and "expensive-looking". The jewel-like taillights are just beautiful.

And then I test drove it. Sure, no where as strong as the Z's, but it's got quite a lot of pep. People would complain about revving the **** out of it to go anywhere, but I had an Integra GSR with an 8100 rmp redline for 3 years so I LOVE TO REV.

But the shifter feel on the Type S kills it. Feels like water. I hit the clutch pedal and it gave no resistance. Eck.

So I got a Z.

stock for stock
ride quality=rsx
speed=350z
seating=rsx
turning=350z
being stolen=rsx (mine was stolen)
steering wheel=rsx
leather= rsx-s has stock leather base 350z has cloth
sound=rsx-s stock bose system.
mpg=rsx
respect= 350z
sex in seat=rsx,more space, but i heard it was very possible in the 350z.
(sorry if ladies are reading but yea)

it all depends on what matters more to you. also the z feels as if its more of a grown up car. when i first bought the rsx felt more like a kid. when bought the 350z everyone thought i was spoiled and my parents paid for it. but i paid for it myself.

To the op there both good cars. The z owns it on performance and looks, plus which car is more likely to get girls, the Z easily. It really comes down to what you can afford, and not get killed by the payments. In reference to the sex from what I've heard it is possible in the z. :-)

Congrats on your decision. The Z is a great choice. It's in an entirely different class than the RSX.
