Default Lease then purchase?

Hi guys, I'm stopping into my dealer today. I wasn't planning on buying a Z until I sold my VR-4, but the salesman had an idea I'm kind of interested in. He said I could trade in my Pathfinder to bring the price of a 06' DB ENTH down, lease it for three years while I sell the VR-4, and then purchase it. The lease payments would be much lower then a car payment, and when the lease is up I'll be purchasing the car for the depreciated value.
Here are some of my concerns:
If I waited to sell the VR-4 then traded the Pathfinder in It would knock about $14,000 off the sale price, making a car payment not too bad.
I really don't like the idea of renting a car...
My VR-4 is around 400AWHP and I don't think I can stop myself from modding the Z for 3 years.

Although I'm incredibly anxious to get a Z...

Any advice guys?
Thanks.
-Chris

A lease is a good way to temporally drive a vehicle that you cannot afford to buy.

There is nothing wrong with leasing a vehicle, then buying it at lease expiration.

There is nothing wrong with it but you will lose more money in the long run. I bought out my lease car and in the end paid well over sticker. When you buy out the lease, the car's price is fixed by the leasing company. No negotiating. You have to pay whatever 'they' deem it is worth. In my case, it was worth buying it because I need a backup vehicle when I get my 07 Z. I also new the maintneance history and felt better about buying it out because I was the only one that had driven it and had proven itself reliable for the last 90K miles.

You can modifiy a leased car - if you decided not to purchase it at the end of the lease, then you have to take all the mods off.

My wife's company leased us our Z with the option for us to buy it at the end...it was a better deal to lease b/c of tax pruposes. I've modded the car and am still unsure if I'll keep it at the end. I'm just keeping the OE parts in case.

But if you don't like the price, you don't have to buy it. If there's a better deal at the lot down the street, you just go down the street.

You have the option to buy it, but not an obligation.
