Default Am I out of my mind for shooting for this price?

I'm looking to pick up an 07 Enthusiast 6spd. Called a few dealerships and told them how I want it, and to get back to me with an idea of what i'd be paying.

I stopped into one of the dealerships a few weeks ago, and they told me I'd be looking to pay over 550/mo. for 60 months with 5k down on the 07 Enthusiast. That sounds ridiculous, So I did my own research.

Just on the www.nissanusa.com alone, I was quoted at about 488/mo. per 60 month term with 5 grand down. That sounds more reasonable, and the #'s actually work out. Am I out of my mind thinking I can get the car for around $450/mo for 60 months?

If not, what can i realistically expect to spend? Thanks for the info

That is not rediculous...

you will not get them NOW when they are new on the lots..
If you wait a while for it then yeah it is feasible, say in 6 months look again and you will get a deal on it

I do not know what APR you are using, so I'd simply like to know: what is the purchase price that you are using to calculate this?

What is the MSRP for the car??

You were a member when the 350Z first hit the shore.

There is no big secret to car buying. Shop for price. Negotiate price. Figuring out the payments is the last step.

Find the 350Z that you want.
Post the MSRP.

Did you buy your Z new? If so you'r either leasing or you've put money down because $28,000 divided by 60 straight is about $466.67/month. That is straight math without APR in consideration.

going into a dealer and not knowing MSRP,invoice, your down payment, tax estimate, loan preapproval, and the willingness to walk when they try to shiv you is a requirement to not getting screwed.

You shouldn't ask him how much your payment is you should know before you step foot on the dealership

I am bored at the moment and will bother to tell you that yes the numbers they ran are right.

MSRP 30710
destination 625
taxes 1772
apr 6.5
downpayment 5000

payment 550 for 60 months

good luck uninformed buyer

never negotiate a deal based on monthly payment. Huge noob mistake. Find the car you want, shoot for dealer invoice, ~7% below MSRP and deal with the payments. SOunds like you're gonna be in way over your head, Buy a used 03 or go buy a civic.

Don't negotiate monthly payments. Find out how you much you can afford per month, then back that into the total cost of the car. Negotiate from there.

Sorry, haven't visited this specific subforum in a bit, forgot I even posted this thread. Thanks for the willingness to help, though

I ended up picking up an 04 Performance ppw 6spd with 16,500 miles for $19,400... Got it soon after I posted this thread. I'm loving every second of it, and already caught the mod bug. Ah, how great it feels I'll post pics once I get my wheels in the mail
