Default Going to the dealership tomorrow need help!

So I am going to the dealreship tomorrow to trade in my 2003 lexus rx300 which the trade in value of it is $23,500. I have to trade it in because it just wont get sold privately, I have found the 350Z I want it is a 2007 magnetic black touring, the MSRP is $ 33,325.00 How much do you think that they would go down for the price of the new 350Z If i trade in my lexus, do you think they would go 29,000 before taxes and etc? thanks alot

I say they'll offer you 19000 for your Lexus. They'll tell you about the Galves value of your car.

Not too sure about them offering 23,000 for the trade-in. How's the loan pay-off on it?

What's the market value on the Lexus, like in your area?

you are making a mistake by factoring in your trade-in with what the new car costs.

I think you can get the z for 31 at the lowest.

First get the best deal you can on the Z then go and get the best deal you can on your trade-in.

1) What you are discussing ir really 2 transactions. You are selling a car (RX300), and buying another car (350Z) Keep the 2 transactions seperate both mentally, and on paper.

2) The wholesale ("trade-in") on your RX300 is more like $18000. And if they are not selling in your areas (as you stated) you might not get tht much. Shop it around to a couple of dealers before you go to Nissan. Do you have aCarMax near you?

3) You should be able to buy an '07 for invoice price. I would start negotiating at $500 below invoice.

They will offer about $3000 back of book to start. That will leave a little profit for them after the reconditioning. IF they offer much more than that, then they are screwing you on the new car. A dealer WILL do the deal with a little under $1000 fron end profit total. IF your car is worth $18k, and you want the new z at invoice, they are gonna have to make the $1000 off of your trade. After taking in to consideration they will need to do some work to it. I do not care if you SAY it is perfect, they need to check it out to make sure it is perfect. That means paying a mechanic for a couple hours labor to take a look at it.

Sell your car private party first. You will get more that way
Get your own financing before going in to the dealership. ONLY use the dealers finance company if they can beat what you got for yourself.
Pay no more than $500 over invoice for the new car.
Or just come see me so I can steal your trade, screw you on the new car, and charge you 2.5 points back end J/K

To know what your trade is really worth, go to kbb.com and look up the trade-in value in fair condition. Doesn't matter if your car is immaculate. Unless they find a way to screw you on the new car, the most they'll offer is kbb trade-in in fair condition.

Question

Did you offer $31,326? Did the dealer accept your offer?

I think they'll give you 15,500 for the lexus. Good luck. Definitely shoot for a lower price on their vehicle.
