'fess up -- did ANYONE pay over MSRP?
I know there are lots of threads where everyone says they paid MSRP (or even less) and that nobody has paid over MSRP. Now, is this really true? I paid an amount over MSRP that was apparently so low at the time compared to what others were being charged (because of my "connections" with the dealer) that I had to promise not to disclose how "little" I paid. So being a man of my word I will not say what I paid but I did pay something over MSRP.
Am I really the only one here that has done so? Please, there's no shame in it -- has anyone else paid over? And if you are not restricted like I am in stating the amount over, could we hear some numbers? I am curious if it is really true that all dealers droppped overcharging and changed existing orders to drop the price.
I'd specifically like to hear from people in the SF Bay area if possible -- for example, Falore Nissan in Sunnyvale was asking $5k over MSRP for preorders (and claiming that it would be 10k over when the cars hit the showroom floor).

Everyone has signed an agreement that includes the final price, haven't they? I thought this was part of the preorder process. OK, I hear what you're saying: things are always subject to change. So let me rephrase: has anyone agreed to a price that is above MSRP, and (if you care to disclose) by how much?

I think I read a thread a while back in which someone said they paid $3k over MSRP.
Myself? I paid MSRP and got the dealer to remove the "mandatory" window etching and dealer maintenance coupon book. That would have added $600.

I paid $200 below MSRP with no dealer add-ons except the $540 destination charge. I don't think too many people paid over MSRP because you don't have to - you can take your business to another dealership.

MSRP INCLUDES $540 freight - if they tacked it on you need to have them remove it, it's listed that way on the www.nissandriven.com site.

Here we go again -- everyone who is proud of paying MSRP or even under MSRP is going to jump into this thread to congratulate themselves. I'm really happy you got a good deal, but my point was that we have seen lots of these threads and people are eager to post that information. I am trying to do something different here: please post if you have paid over MSRP.
Please don't be ashamed -- I started with my confession. Anyone else?

My dealer claimed I was getting MSRP but he insisted on two garbage fees that took me about $500 over MSRP - a $220 (allegedly) mandatory processing fee and a $295 detailing fee. I would have squawked more, but I was going out of the country for two weeks and wanted to order my car before I left. BTW, Dr. Bonz has posted several times that he got hit with some $700-$800 fee that his dealer would not wave.

I think I did, maybe not, anyway when I ordered the dealer made as part of the deal that you would get the car at MSRP and that you had to order the extended warranty which I think they really jacked up and overcharged me, so I guess it would be over MSRP. But after just being to a dealer that told me it would be 7,000 to 10,000 over MSRP I figured I was doing good.
But after talking to NNA they said I didn't have to take the Extended warranty and I told her what if they try to take the car away and sell to someone else and she was pretty sneaky and said I always had 60 days to cancel and get my money back so maybe I will end up at MSRP we'll see.

I'm from The SF Bay Area (San Jose/Santa Cruz), and I went to Falore Nissan to pre-order, and they offered $3000 over MSRP (and said that they were planning on increasing the price to $6000 since they were selling out so quickly).
Falore also said that all the other San Jose dealers were charging $5000 over and that if I ordered from them I would be getting a very good price.
I told Falore that I was willing to pay $35000 out the door (if I recall correctly) for a performance model, which is about $1500 over MSRP. They rejected my offer and I rejected theirs.
I wan't able to confirm the prices on any other SJ dealers because I went to Santa Rosa and ordered from the dealer there instead. They were charging MSRP straight up.
I guess I don't quite meet your requirements since I didn't end up paying over MSRP, but I was willing to pay over, and I can confirm that Falore would not sell for "only" $1500 over (at least back in February when I pre-ordered). I therefore expect that many people, at least in San Jose, paid over MSRP.

I called all the San Jose dealers and they all wanted 5K over. I worked my way out of S.J. and called Gilroy who I think wanted 3500 over. I called these guys in central Ca. and they wanted a $900. fee for something, I forget what. I got discouraged and ended up ordering out of state, way out!! I wasn't going to pay out the nose when I knew I could find a deal somewhere. I ended up with MSRP with a $99. proccessing fee and that was fine. But I do have to pay to have it trucked here and that will be about $850. Yes I'm silly but I was p.o.'d at Ca. dealers at the time. I have since heard about a few people who said they paid MSRP in Ca., one in Seaside. Oh well, at least my sales dude seems to be real cool and is a Z enthusiast, knows a lot about the Z and deals with my BS pretty well.

The guys that ordered real early would have probably been the ones that had to pay OVER msrp....but MOST of you will get it earlier than the rest of us who are in the back end of the pre-order.
I'm sure the guys ordering in March of next year could prolly get $1000-1500 under msrp....it's just how good your will power is...
me... can't wait that long....and $1000 is not enough incentive for me to wait another 6 months.

Got mine at MSRP at Capitol Nissan in San Jose. At first they offered me $2500 over MSRP, but I refused and told them I was heading over to Stevens Creek Nissan and they rescinded their offer and gave me MSRP. Not the greatest customer service at Capitol.
By the way, if you ordered from Falore Nissan, you got gouged. If you walked funny out that front door, it's because they definitely stuck it to you. They offered me $10K over MSRP at first request. I hung up before the guy even had a chance to sell me his sales pitch.

Im in Orange County, When I first heard the Z was going on presale I waited for the date when tehy were "officaly" on presale. I called a dealership in Huntingon Beach and they had no idea what I was talking about. They ended up calling me back but said that they wanted a $10,000 non-refundable deposit. Whatever! I thne said screw it and waited about a month. I went to a delaership in Irvine and they were going to give MSRP but they were out of first allotmant slots. I thne called Autonation in El Monte and they had first allotmant slots left at MSRP with a $1000 refundable deposit. Well i diddnt do it and im kicking myself now! If anyone payed dover MSRP they didnt try hard enough.......

This thread got me to drag out my paperwork and notice that I got stuck with a $25 processing fee that I either never noticed or decided at the time wasn't worth arguing about. I don't remember which, since its been so long since I ordered. What is interesting is that this fee is typed in, in a very small font on the form and everything else is handwritten in a large script. The more I think about the more I'm inclined to think I did notice it and was just so excited about ordering the Z, that I didn't care. If it had been much more than that I'm sure I would have been immediately out the door looking for another dealer.
