This is interesting info. I wonder if anyone did actually pay these outrageous extra fees that dealers were asking early on in the preorder period? I'm happy with my dealership (South County Nissan in Gilroy) as they have given me good information and dealt straight with me, but I am starting to question the value of this huge favor they supposedly did for me by not charging as much over MSRP as they were asking at the time.
Thanks for all that replied with their info. If anyone else can add to this, please go ahead.

People should post here exactly how much over they paid and then this thread should be forwarded to Nissan. I had First Nissan in Simi Valley Ca try to jack me for $2500 over only to call me back a short time later and then try and offer me sticker. Too late, Team Nissan in Oxnard already took care of me.

I have been invoiced for the downpayment. I haven't paid for a thing but I have MSRP in writing... will the dealer try some funny business?? I don't know until I go and pick up my vehicle.

I'm also in the Bay Area and went through all the dealers, Stevens Creek, Capitol and Falore. The guys at Falore must have been smoking crack when they told me 10K over!! All this was in January of this year.
Eventually, I ended up in SLO where i got the car at MSRP. The car order was sent in on 1/31.
I'm wondering how soon after that were the local guys offering at MSRP?

I got mine at MSRP, my dealer has been very good to me. Of course, if they tried anything with my dad, i had my cell phone on ready to call 1800NISSAN1. I'm a sneaky little bastard.

*stands up* "Hello, my name is SinGin... and I paid over MSRP"
Maybe it is sort of true. Depending on when you had pre-ordered, depends on what you were quoted. I put down a refundable deposit the beginning of February. The price was not a set final price but it was over MSRP. The guy claimed it was lower than other dealers and it sort of is. But that was all before the Nissan edict (or friendly recommendation if you'd rather call it that). I brought it up again a while ago and was told "not to worry".
Whatever that means. In the end, I haven't paid anything yet and pricing is not final so we'll have to see. Delivery was estimated to be about a month from now.

This is a repost of my reply to the https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&threadid=3184 thread.
My dealer pulled the same type of deal and I went ahead and ordered the car. That was back in March.
After seeing the threads concerning MSRP on this board and others, as well as the survey on how many people paid MSRP, I decided to do a little negotiating.
I went to the dealership and told my salesman that I had some concerns about the $995 add-on charges. I told him that I had found out on the internet that Nissan had requested that their dealers not charge over MSRP and that based on an informal survey 80% of the dealerships were abiding by that request.
I also explained that I like to establish long-term relationships with businesses and that about 10 years ago, I had a bad experience with a local dealer and since then I have not set foot in any of that dealer's chain of dealerships, nor did I ever intend to. (True story)
Without another word, he knocked the $995 off. Yes, in writing.
You might try a similar tactic.

I paid MSRP plus a 399 dealers fee and tax/tag/title.. I don't feel bad about the 399 though b/c I got great service and have been treated like a king every time I have visited the dealership. For those of u in the ATL I ordered from Performance Nissan in Lilburn. Great people over all, $500 down payment and no hassles about those stupid dealer options.

They tried to Gouge on day one.
I called 6 dealers in the Fort Lauderdale/Miami area the day before and day of the initial order date. Most said $5K over, some said management did not decide yet. Plantation Nissan said MSRP over the phone, so I went in and then they said $3K over which was going to be the BEST I could find anywhere. I offered $2K over and they said NO and let me walk. I called a 7th dealer that said MSRP over the phone and I wanted a manager to confirm before driving in. I got MSRP from Esserman. Plantation called a few days later still trying for $3K over. So much for their BEST DEAL ANYWHERE at $3K over.
