You _never_ want to trade your car in at the dealer. I don't even bother bringing it up when I'm buying a car. If you need to get rid of your car, a private sale is the only good route.
True, but false in my case. Last year, I got 10k for 01 Maxima SE, loaded. And they gave me an extra 1k for my mods (03 headlights, 03 titanium edition rims, Sat Radio, hardwired Mp3 player compatibility, suspension). Car had 76k miles on it, I got my 06 Touring Z-5AT with 5k on the clock for 27k OTD (before trade-in).
