Thumbs up 350Z Roadster pricing not bad...

snagged this quote from another thread...
My Nissan dealer called me today with all of the pricing for the Roadster (down to the floor mats).
So I ordered my DB Touring - 6 Speed ($36,760)
NAV ($2000)
Side Air Bags ($250)
Floor Mats ($80)
Aluminum Kick Plates ($90)

Total $39,180 (Right at MSRP)
I don't expect to be running out and ordering a convertible Z... or should I???

Let's see... base price on a Touring convertible = $36,760
Base price of a Touring coupe = $33,719

A difference of only $3041!!! That's not a bad mark up to go with a drop top.

Assuming the price difference is going to be about the same on the Enthusiast Convertible, we should get a sticker of $31,830 before options ($28,789 base price + $3041 droptop increase)

So, for $33K, you can have an Enthusiast 350Z convertible with some of the nice options (kick plates, floor mats, etc). That actually sound pretty reasonable. Hell, that cheaper than my Performance coup w/Nav cost me!

Hmm... my Borla exhaust and iForged wheels could be easily transferred to a convertible. The only question would be whether my Nismo body kit that is being prepped now, specifically the rear spoiler, would still mount up the same on the trunk.... hmmm....

I could drop $5 + install on an FI kit toward the end of summer or I could trade in my beautiful Brickyard coupe and drop $5K on the the downpayment on an Enthusiast Convertible... putting all my recent add-ons on the new ride. Decisions... decisions...

keep the coupe, keep the coupe, keep the coupe!

Convertables suck IMO...
I used to detail cars, and every convertable that came in, was absolutley filthy on the inside. This happens with the top down, all the road grime that would naturally get on the roof of your car is now getting stuck to your leather interior.

Vandals and thieves love convertibles. Those soft tops are really easy to cut open with a sharp knife. My friend had that happen to him before and the cost to repair the top or get a new one were both not cheap. After that incident, he just left the doors unlocked all the time. I think his reasoning was that if a thief wanted something out of his car, just let him take it and save himself the repair $. (he never left anything in the car)

Where does he live? (park his roadster?)

Just curious.

i guess vandalism is the risk you take with the roadster or any convertible, but the reward is worth the risk. i test drove the coupe before the roadsters came out and i had a great time, but the z is so much more fun when you can drop the top.

as with all types of transportation, there are pros and cons. motorcycles are a blast to drive. on the other hand, other drivers dont see you as easily and may hit you, for example.

anyways, for me, however, i couldnt imagine giving up my convertible for the coupe... not after having driven the two.... just my 2 cents.

Which dealership? I'd fly up to NC to pick it up if it saved me the bogus dealer profit crap.

$45K for an Enthusiaist Roadster here at Academy Nissan. No NAV, no leather, can we say $10K markup. And the sad part, is someone bought it. Yippie, somebody gets to say I have the first Lemans Sunset Roadster in Colorado Springs. Can you belive this BS dealers are charging?

Heck they are even charging $399.00 for a hood clear bra. $325 markup. And $175 for interior protection. Can we say a $5 can of scotchguard. $170 markup.

I need to get in the car business.
