Well, I know people think I am an idiot, but I went from a 2007 335i to a 2008 350Z Roadster Touring. If I could have afforded it, I would have looked at the 2008 335i Convertible, but for 60+ K I didn't see the reasoning behind it. I really like BMW product, they drive well and there is a reason they always get top marks from all the magazines etc, but drive what you love. I didn't love or even like the way the 335i drove at all. It was not smooth takeoff unless you stomped on it, and most of my driving is around the country club types that live in the area. I haven't owned my 350 for long, but I can tell you I get more stares in this than in the dime a dozen bmw's around me. Ya, they cost more, but I don't see that they are that much better than any other car. Personal opinion of course.

im buying a porsche next and it is a step up from a BMW in my opinion in the sportiness category, name brand, and maybe even build quality.

not sure I would trade in an 03 anything and get another 03 car.

I love the Z and personally wouldn't trade it for a BMW but I can't say the build quality is as good as what you have already.

Stick with what you have

Legit question; he is looking for opinions.

I can pretty much afford any car I want to drive. I love the looks of the Z, it has plenty of power for my needs, and it fits me like a glove. The fact that it is less prestigous than other cars means zippo, imo.

Your choice. I would go take a good test drive before you buy just to be sure you feel good in it.

I think you might have to spend a couple/three grand more to get a Z in good shape with minimal miles.

Thanks for people who provided honest and legit answers, to the others, thanks for a nice unwelcoming

I love the BMW but it doesnt cut it when it comes to speed. I want something a bit faster but yes has the ability to turn heads.

So realistically I wont be able to find a good 350z around 15k? I can push it to 20K, is that a reasonable budget?

I test drove a 02' Porsche boxster and it was really nice, but honestly i prefered driving my BMW over it.

I looked into the G35 coupe but I didnt like the fact that it had extra seats in the back.

Also test drove the 05 bmw z4 and it was just too small for me. I fit but it didnt feel right.

looked into a mazda rx8 but again, didnt like the 2 seats in the rear.

Honda S2K- I despise hondas

BMW 335i- Too much money, I can afford it but its not worth the money.

The only Car that leaves me with is the 350z or BMW M3. But i already had my experience with BMW and i wanna try something else.

Im not trading nor Selling the BMW, it has the great honor of being garaged until I use it. its pretty damn new tho, not scratches or messed up paint. Did all the service recently and only has 68k on it.

68k miles is not that new. If your looking for a Z be prepared to dish out between 20-25k. If you find a Z for 15K I would have it checked out from top to bottom and remember you pay for what you get. An M3 even used 2002 model goes for 35k minimum and thats with a good amount of milage on it. And be prepaired for maintenace cost because I heard that the M3's are problematic.

Get the Z. I can see my car from my window cubicle at work and still find my self staring at how gorgeous it is. I can't wait to drive it home everyday, it puts a smile on my face.

You should find a good used Z for 20Gs. 04 at least.

It looks pretty clean and the price is right. I say go for it. As far as the emmissons that is really not something to worry about. It could be something simple as you need to do a tune up. If you buy it just take it to someone that is very much an expert with working on Z's. They would be able to tune it up and put it on the computer a may just need some adjustments. When you look at the car make sure if the car has an aftermarket exhaust if it does perhaps the car has test pipes and thats why you wont pass emmissons also it does have over 50k miles on it so it is due for a full service. You can use that to your advantage and bring the price of the car a few 100 lower.
