Default Help MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Gday Guys,

I live in Australia and Im in the market for a 350z. I think this is a US based forum but Ive had a look and the only 350 forums in Australia are attached to skyline forums and you guys seem to know what you're talking about.

(any aussies on here help me out)

Im in the market for a track and 350's in Australia arent exactly cheap, an 03 goes for about 40k and an 04 about mid to high 40's. Kind of a downer when you consider our dollar is almost 1-1 with the US at the moment and I could pick up an 06-07 in the US for 25-30k

(2 models got released here, a touring and track, I think it was the same in the states)

I went and test drove an 03 track last night.

Things I didnt like-

- Hes asking about $37k with a roadworthy
- its done 60 000 kms (too much?)
- It needs a cut and polish (minor scratches here and there, no dints)
- 2 of the rims have been badly gutter bashed and need to be machined (get a new set off ebay or get them machined?)
- The interior is that camel colour and the leather is a bit worn (any advice on leather care or restoration?)

OR

is it worth waiting a year to buy an 06-07?

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers

60k kms is not that bad for an 03, 60k miles would be getting up there. It seems as this car was probably a daily driver in the city. I would keep shopping around and maybe spend a little more with fewer kms and less wear and tear. If you can handle waiting a year and getting an 06 or 07, than I would do that. The 03 probably has no powertrain warranty left as it has been 5 years.

The owner got an extended warranty with it and it just expired.

I did like the fact he hadnt even washed the car or had it detailed. I got to see the car for how it really is, I know I could make it look spotless.

I waited 2-3 years (saving a massive deposit (interest rates are out of control in oz atm, 11 rises in a row now)), and bought a 08, and as you can expect an 06/07 will be better than 03/04 for a variety of factors including the new HR engine, tire feathering resolved and and improved interior.

However I do feel your pain with the price, some of you may remember me posting this thread:
https://my350z.com/forum/australia-new-zealand/333176-z-a-rip-off-attn-aust-owners.html

If you can find a good deal on an 04 go for it, the Z market in Australia is small, not a lot of demand for a second hand so you should be able to haggle down a noticable amount.

P.s. G'day is soooo cliche, no one says it all that much in Australia guys, apart from your true blue-bogans (brothers to American rednecks if you want a comparison

OK so I should wait then? This is basically my savings Im squandering and I really cant afford anything more than 35-38 without taking out a 20k loan for a new one Bottom line is that they are expensive for what they are considering theyre 5 years old now.

So what are the other options?
RX8's are rotary and use too much juice
Integra type S - front wheel drive and Ive already had a VTIR
Jetta - Im not a grandfather yet
SS - Too Muzza
XR6 - Too poxy, too muzza
WRX 03-05 - Too muzza
EVO 8 or 9 - cop magnet, theyre a lancer and Id probably lose my licence.

Any other options?

PS I would have to use Gday at least 20 times a day in normal conversation, didnt even think about it until you pulled it up. What part of aus are you from anyway where no one says it?

Well thanks for the cultural update (I think). Wonder what it might cost to ship my '03 Down Under? Oops, another cultural faux pas! j/k Blue-bogans is pretty cool, do they live in trailers?

hahahaha yep... they're also known as "Government funded Caravan Parks"

OP- It depends how much you want it, I've been drooling over the Z for over 2 years, I saved up a bit over 20grand working as a pizza boy at dominos- I was managing during uni holidays and the weeks got as high as 92hours.

My situation- Track Z = 67990 + kickplates + mats + taxes, rego, insurance all the "on-road costs" as they call them.... came to 72k.....got 5500 for my N15 Pulsar, got 5000 in discounts and minus my 20k depoist I only had to loan out 42k. Paying it off 180 a week and I wouldn't have it any other way

The Z is a V8 killer, my boss just got the new Holden SSv ute.... flogs it! It's an amazing car, yer like you said- it's been around for 5 years...and it STILL gets looks, comments and thumbs up

oh come on you know what I mean, it's such a generalisation, it's like me saying that all New Yorkers have hotdogs for lunch... you know from those hot dog carts on the street
