Default '07 or '08?

Hey everyone. New to the forum but am really liking the Zs. I stopped by a dealer tonight and took one for a test drive and there is definitely a Z in my future.

After sitting there with the guy for a while I was really looking for an '08 but then we got looking and there's quite a few '07s (still new) floating around the area, obviously cheaper.

My big question: is there any reason I should look at the '08 vs. the '07? Both are "new", both with have full warranties, etc. I can get the same supplier discount on both, but they are really looking to unload the '07s now so there are some extra rebates and discounts.

Your thoughts?

Thanks everyone,

I'm in the exact same boat as you brother.

I'm looking at brand new 07's and 08's and so far it has all come down to color preference. For some crazy reason, Nissan got rid of daytona blue for the 08 lineup, as well as the silverstone metallic color (don't know the exact name, but it looks like a medium gray color)... those are actually the ONLY 2 colors that I really liked, so I guess if I can't find an 07 then I will settle for either the san marino blue 08 or the light silver 08. The 07's and 08's both have the new hood and new wheels.. I think the only difference is that the 07's have a dual intake, and the 08's have a single.

Good luck shopping.

I'm looking at red for either year. They changed the name but I believe the color code is the same. As long as no one can provide me with any other reason to not go with the '07 then that's the one that'll be in my driveway shortly.

I'll take some pics and get them posted when it arrives.

Thanks guys,

Where in MI are you looking? I might be possibly looking into an 07' but the local dealer doesn't have any in stock.

No one around here has anything in stock. Everything I'm looking at will need to be ordered in from other dealers. If I'm happy with the dealer when all is said and done I'll be happy to recommend them.

the 08s only have a single intake? i believe the 08 is unchanged from the 07 models... so they also have dual. 03-06 have single intakes

Did they ever fix that clutch problem in the 07 models? The 08's have been the most problem free, so far.

I was reading about the recall on that actually. So far looks like it's ok. I will just have to be sure and check on that before I drive off the lot.

Better yet, just ask them which 07's have already been fixed, and ask for the maintenance records on those particular vehicles. That will save you from having your car in the shop vs. having fun driving it .

Alright guys. I am now the proud owner of a black 350Z Nismo #1137. Very impressed with both the car and the dealer (knock on pressboard). I went through Nissan of Sterling Heights for those wondering. PM me if you'd like more details than that. I feel I got a good price and so far they have taken very good care of me.

And of course, it's a BLAST to drive.

Congratulations. That's the way to do it. Drive it and buy it. I like your style.

Nice buy. Great color. I just bought on 08, with the same color. Enjoy it! Just need to tint the windows now.
