Default more important? Hr engine or DE + color?

My dilemma. I absolutely love the LeMans Sunset color. LOVE it. I think no other car looks as good as the Z does with that color.

On the other hand, I have yet to test drive the 07 (none available near me) but I have heard the HR motor is "much" better. Smoother revs, better clutch, more power. I tried searching for direct comparisons but I only found 80000 posts not discussing direct comparisons.

1. I will never race the car nor bring it to any track. Not my thing
2. I doubt I will ever add performance mods of any serious nature (upgrade wheels, exhaust, jwt popcharger maybe).

in your opinion, what would be more important to you? The color of your car, but having it be an '03 - '06, or the engine '07+ HR motor?

Color is very important to me; I'd choose the color over the 07 engine.

The 03-06 engine is quite strong; if your not into racing, I don't know if the added performance of the 07 is very important. On the other hand, everytime you get in the car you will note the color.

To the performance crowd on here: yes, I am a form over function guy. get over it.

HR anyday of the week. All Z colors are good except that heinous orange color...oh and yellow sucks pretty bad too. Red, black, white, silver, gray, all rock. By the way, a HR Z is a *lot* faster than a DE, no competition. Drive both and you'll instantly see the difference.

LeMans (coming from a LeMans owner). You will always see the color, even if it's just sitting in your garage while you're doing yard work. You're not always going to use the extra 20 HP provided by the HR. But, that being said, test drive both. It's your decision.

Oh, and if you end up w/ an HR, don't get the Solar Orange. Horrible. I don't know what Nissan was thinking.

I agree with ya on Lemans, nice color, but it's not 20hp for one, closer to 40 with hp rating differences, and it's not just the hp, it's the area under the curve. A HR pulls a lot harder from 3K-6K than a DE, no comparison. I've driven a 04 bolt on, stock 06, and my stock 07.

Anyone know the difference in 0 to 60 MPH and/or quarter mile times between HR and previous engines?

Forgot about the new ratings, knew about the broader torque curve. All I know is personally, I haven't gone to drive an HR yet, because I may like it too much, and they don't offer it in LS. OP should drive both before buying, obviously. Nissan better have some damn good colors for the 370Z.

My eternal thanks for, at least in one thread, depriving davidv of his idiotic practice of robbing the graveyard of long deceased threads!

HR for sure. Though color can be a make it a break it choice.

Just get the HR. It's faster, newer and you'll find a color that you'll grow very fond of.
