2007 San Marino Blue W/Frost - $36,280 MSRP
the dealer just shot me a figure of $25,000 plus my trade in for the above car. its a 2007, and the window sticker reads $36,280.
now, i am going to assume about $7,280 on a trade for my SUV. so that basically leaves $29,000.
i understand there is a $2,000 rebate going on right now, so that means the dealer knocked off $2,000 also to get down to the $25,000 figure.
since i assume the purpose of this Buying/Leasing Forum is to get responses on questions such as this, i am going to ask.........is that a good deal? fair? poor?
one buddy at the office says no, its not a good deal, that depreciation will kill me since its a 2007. my other buddy says there is some truth to that, but only if i decide to sell it in 2-3 years. that if i keep it for 5 years or so thats not a problem.
bear in mind thats the initial offer from the dealer, and i am yet to come back and tell him thats not bad, but surely you can do better, its an 07, there's a rebate, your about to get my business, etc, etc, and see if he will come down more.
thoughts?

i got offered 26g for a new 08 enthu 350z but im in california and california might have mo 350z's in stock that their trying to sell so they can make room for 370z? but iono. i plan on buying a 350z after summer or during winter break if they still have em for low low price but if not imma just purchase a 370z.

also figuring into this is that i assume Nissan has got to be really anxious to move the 07 models? that plus even though he might give me $7,000 on a trade, the resale value of the SUV is around $11,000 to $12,000.
so, it seems to me like he can do better than the $25,000 figure he gave me.

i just emailed the dealer back, told him i thought $25,000 plus my SUV just seemed too high for a 2007 model. offered him $22,500 and told him that would seal the deal.
