Depreciation On A 2007 Model
once again, i am in the negotiating process on a new 2007 350Z with $36,000+ on the sticker. my buddy says i better get a steal of a deal due to the fact that the moment i drive the car off the lot, the depreciation on a 2007 model will be much greater than than of a 2008 model.
when i told the salesman about the depreciation factor his comment was "That makes no difference because the dealer we are trading with has a price he paid for that car and he cant let us have it for anything less."
my other buddy says the depreciation factor only comes into play if i decide to sell the car within a year or two of buying. that if i keep it for three years or more it would all even out.
thoughts? any suggestions on how to argue the depreciation factor with the dealer to get a better price?

I doubt the guy is going to part with it if he is going to lose money on the deal.
If you are going to sell a car in a couple years anyway your best bet is to not buy used.
give him what you think you want to pay and if can't do it then go on and go somewhere else.
