Default Buying a Used Z, help appreciated

Looking to buy a used Z this week , This would be my second time purchasing a car, but 1st time buying buying a used car. 06 year model 305z, anything under 30k miles is what i am looking for, and my budget is around $18-24. Checked the web locally and found at a dealer a 2006 350z enthusiast model blk AUTO 16,522 miles listed as $23,988. I e-mailed and called already asking for a quote from the internet manager and he just kept telling to come into the dealer and he would give me the best price and "let discuss it". Anyways is the price listed a bit high??? How much should I be willing to pay, Lowest for this car? I appreciate the advice, and hope to be a Z owner before the end of this week!

Just like buying a new car, buying a used car takes a little homework. Check Kelly Blue Book prices. Remember their prices are just a guideline.

Sellers want two things: money and now. Find the Z that you want. Tell the seller that you want to buy now. Make an offer. Good luck.

+1, go in confident and willing to walk away. I would honestly think about your end goal of this vehicle. If you at all think you will go boosted (i.e. Supercharger/turbo) Check out the cars on here for sale already done with top of the line parts and workmanship. Good luck

Is this '06 a M/T or A/T? If M/T, make sure you read up on the oil consumption issues. Also, make sure you ask the dealer if this '06 was bought back by Nissan at any time.

sorry i forgot to list it, edited original post, and its a A/T. I wasn't aware that there was oil consumption issues with the 06 models as that were tire feathering issues with the 03-04 models. Was that only with the 06 M/T's and other info on the oil consumption issues would also be appreciated. thanks again!

Due to high fuel cost, and the economy the price for a used 350Z has dropped in California. I purchased my used Z in Northern California last year. The price has dropped since then. Take your time and look for a bargain. Try Craiglist and look for single owner Z, who has all of current paperwork. Run a carfax report, and take the car to your local dealer and have them check it out for $100.00 dollars. Time is on your side. Look for a deal. You have all of the bargaining chips. Make sure the car you purchase is from your state. I would not purchase a used car that came from a different state then mine. Good luck.

Everything I've heard and read says that the oil consumption problem was only with the 06 M/T -- and of course, not all 06 M/T's have the problem. Just quite a few, to the point that Nissan has been buying some back, supposedly fixing the issue, then reselling the car.

If it has new tires then no there will be no symptoms. Used tires? Maybe. Search “feathering.”

You can (and probably should) get an alignment for around $100 or so. If the tires already have feathering, they will need to be replaced. This will cost more than just an alignment.

That I cannot help you with. I don't know what the car is worth to you.

I have seen members quibble over $500, then lost the car to another buyer.

How much do you really want this car -- compared to some other car (and how soon do you want any car)? Try to go lower and see what happens. If you don't get this car, keep trying. The longer you wait, the lower the prices will eventually get.

Hi,
I just purchased a new 2007 Roadster enthusiast with 44 mi. on it (white ext. & gray int.) on Monday 19th. for $29,300 before TTL (MSRP was $37,800) at Connell Nissan in Costa Mesa, CA. I got a second offer a day later (same car, but not my top choice of color) from Tustin Nissan for $29000 before TTL. I initially looked into getting an 08 hardtop coupe, but didn't get a good deal on my trade-in, so I didn't get the final price for it. I know your are looking for a used Z, but your are within the range of a new one. The Roadster is slightly more that the hardtop, so you maybe able to get into a new car in the mid-to-upper 20's.

Check on autotrader.com for available 350Z in your area & go directly to the dealer's website & check their available inventory for the model you want. Dealers are really cutting their prices nowadays. There is also a special rate going on. Glendale Nissan & Corona Nissan have some 2007 left.

Also, if you are going to trade-in your car, try Carmax since you wiil probably get more for your car. Hope this is helpful. Good luck with your purchase.

BTW, I am a new member; this is my first and I love it!

Mark
