Default I Bought One, And Then.......

not sure what the heirarchy of authority is at a car dealership, and i hope Dave doesnt crucify me for this thread. if this thread gets locked feel free to PM me about this. i consider this a total crock by the dealer!

i finally told the sales people i would take the offer they gave me one month and one day earlier. i was left with the impression that was going to be good enough. i was excited, finally had that 350Z! text msg'd my buddy, told him it was a done deal. about 30 minutes later the salesman called and said we are working your deal, and will get back to you.

so, they call 15 minutes later and tell me the best deal they can do is $xxxxx, which is about $800 higher than the previous deal that we had agreed on. they told me it was because of the depreciation on my SUV. I TOLD THEM NO WAY IN H~LL HAS MY SUV DEPRECIATED $800 IN ONE MONTH! I TOLD THEM THAT 2007 350Z IS GOING TO DEPRECIATE BY THOUSANDS THE MOMENT I DRIVE IT AWAY FROM THE DEALER!

my uncle, who is a retired car salesman, said if they were any kind of dealership they would honor the deal they gave me just one month earlier and cant believe they wouldnt take my offer on a 2007 model.

doesnt look like i am ever going to get a 350Z......

when buying used i never get emotionally attached to any ONE car......there are tons of used Z's out there.......just keep looking and you will find what you want.

Also, they are trying to use the advantage that they now have on you! - the fact that you are calling back willing to buy...tell them to "honor the original deal or call you when they will"

and leave it at that....if they call....they call....... if not keep looking for a Z.

Heck your suv might have dropped 800 bucks in one month. With gas prices going sky high the market for suv and trucks have become flooded.

Go to www.edmunds.com and get a trade in value, real accurate.

this same dealer, and another dealer, told me since my Escape SUV was a 6 cylinder and got good mileage, was popular and in demand. the numbers on Edmunds and KBB are almost the same as a couple of months ago.

it might have depreciated some - BUT NOT $800 in one month!

things change daily, not to mention over a month. Everytime I have dealth with a salesman, they tell me how long the deal is good for. Doesn't sound like this happened in this case... and because of that, I wouldn't expect an offer over a month old to still hold without discussing it with the salesman. I wouldn't expect the deal to be good for more than a couple days, or a week at most.

I personally don't think it is reason to be upset, just work the best deal you can and if feel you need to be at the number you were at 30+ days ago, make that very clear.

edit:
I would totally expect ANY suv, especially any ford suv to be hit pretty hard on depreciation over the past few weeks/month. Dealerships can be scammers, but I, for one, think there is a touch of legitimacy in their reasoning

i agree there could be a "Touch" of reason in their argument. but not $800 worth of touch. and they tried to tell me the offer was two months ago, when it was one month and one day ago. 29 days to be exact.

i really wasnt too upset with a new offer, but i was with the $800 worse offer. and then they tried to tell me the Nissan dealer with the car (this is a dealer trade) wouldnt give me any better deal than them when i pretty much know for a fact they would!

the Sales Manager just called me. said another reason the price was higher was because the dealer incentives werent quite what they were the last of April.

however, he told me he expected the incentives to go up the first of June, and that if we waited till tuesday or so we should definitely know. said he wasnt 100% certain, but he felt confident they would be able to offer me a better deal by then.

wait and see till tuesday now.......

yep, believe that was David.

however, thursday night they tell me its because my SUV has depreciated. there's a difference in depreciation, and the value being less due to high gas prices.

then saturday they tell me because the dealer incentives arent quite as good now is the reason for the lesser offer.

they are playing dealer tricks with me. i dont really care, as long as i get that 350Z next week at what i consider a fair price.

Mike, do you remember this?
Thread closed. You have taken no advice from anyone here. Make a new thread when you finally buy one.

You still have not bought a car, why did you create a thread?

Someone please close this thread so this moron gets the point.
