Default Deal or No deal? (advice needed)

Hey guys, I currently drive an 04 Enthusiast, and I was looking to get a used Roadster now. I live in Texas, and I have actually been looking at different deals nationwide. This is may be my first time purchasing a car in another state, so I had a few questions towards it.

I found an 04 Blue Roadster in Florida, asking price of $17,777. Here is the specific vehicle.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...cardist=961%3E

Now my question is, Ive talked to the manager and sales rep many times, they say they can only knock off $500. I got the carfax, and the car has been in an accident, but it is minor. I called the dealership and Collision center, they said it was just paint chips, dents, the lights, and it was wet sanded.

Now I have searched through the forums and haven't found anything recent, but does anyone have experience of buying a car out of state? Anything specific I should look out for? I know I have to put aside about $800 to ship the car, about $450 more to fly out there, but it is still coming out as the best deal. I also would have to wait until the car gets shipped to Texas, before I register the car in Texas and pay the tax here.

The car had been sitting there for a while so I was a little hesitant to fly out there until I was sure its the one I wanted. I was told that insurance rates are crazy over there, which is why roadsters probably dont come and go as fast as they do in Texas. Any insight would be appreciated, I know I wouldnt know until I go there and check it myself, but i did get the sales rep to take plenty of pictures of every angle for me, so that makes me a little more comfortable before checking it out.

Also, I was thinking about taking it to a Nissan dealership nearby there. I belive they have a full check up for about $100 or so, and maybe they can check out the car in more detail, see if that minor accident may end up being worse.

I dont want this to come back at me if I want to sell the car in a couple years and upgrade again, and for it to scare the seller if it has been in an accident before or not. It is still a clean title though. Thanks again

I would caution any member about buying any vehicle sight unseen. Photos are terribly misleading. A little soap, water and wax, and you can polish a turd.

If you want to fly and inspect the car first OK.

it sounds fishy. i wouldn't trust anything a dealer has to say to me when they are trying to sell me the car. especially when its referring to the backround history of the car. first of all, how do they know the damage that was done to the vehicle? how did the dealer obtain this car (that is if they give you a legit answer) 90% of all cars on dealer's lots are from auction so i would be wary. i personally have never had a good experience at a "stealership" unless i directly delt with someone i knew personally. most of them lie and while there are a few honest people there, too many of them lie and it ruins it as a whole. if you were to continue with this, you must few it in person first. then i would take it to an anthorized mechanic and not tell the dealer which one your taking it to (a lot of times managers will call other dealerships before you get there and tell them to tell you the car is ok). then, if that mechanic gives you the thumbs up, then pursue it. depending on how far it is, it might be cheaper for you to drive it back vs. flying home and having it shipped. thats what i did when i bought my sti from california to chicago.

all in all, trust your gut, not other people.

just my $.o2. hope this helps!

Used sports car from a dealer? Twice as risky..
1. Its a used sports car
2. Dealers are bad/risky enough with brand new cars.

Just too much of a hassle imo....

New car. No fuss no muss. Im from the oldschool of thought "Never ever buy a used sports car"
