Question 2006 Lancer EVO XIII or 1993 Mazda RX7 R1

So i'm selling my 2007 350z unfortunately, too much for insurance and payments out my *** so i can't take it anymore. Just wondering if anyone knew much about either Evos or the RX7's. I'm debating both, straight trade with all my parts for the RX7 or go with the EVO for about 25K sell my 350z stock for about that, and part off the wheel/exhaust/etc i have. Not really sure what to do in this case. Evo i believe is stock with 30K miles on it MR edition, RX7 is the R1 edition with lots of mods with 100K miles, 800 on the new engine(link below)

if anyone has any advice i would really appreciate it, tough decision, not really sure what to go with.
this is my cars post for sale with parts and such(link) https://my350z.com/forum/cars-sale/3...-mods-pix.html

sounds like you need to buy a Scion TC. insurance for the Evo should be higher than the Z. the RX7 should be as much if not more. plus the Rx7's arent the most reliable cars and if your not ready to drop some money into the 7 possible major issues, i wouldnt touch it.

Sorry that you are over your head. I don't see a significant cash flow benefit with either car.

The EVO, and The Rx-7 is alot more on insurance.

The rx-7 is a very sexy car, but If I had to choose one, it would be the EVO.

Alot more reliable car then a rx-7 by far.

I love the Rx-7 but Nexx is right...if the Z insurance is expensive....I would look for something else. The Evo is cool..but the Rx-7 is rare these days.

In 2006 it was the evo 9, not evo 8.

I'm assuming you meant 8 at least, since the title actually says evo 13.

If it's an Evo IX, I would go for it. The FD will give you nothing but trouble, great car, but lots of work.

The Evo is awesome on every level, I used to own one. You will pay more for insurance on the Evo though; probably alot more to be honest. In fact, it will probably cost you more to own an Evo than the Z.

If I were you I'd either hang on to my Z or look for an 05 Evo VIII since you'll pay a little less, while getting a much more solid driveline + ACD over the 03-04 cars, while getting a little less power than the 06 models (the IX has a better turbo, better gearing, & variable intake cam timing). Should save you a few grand over a IX, but it won't save you a ton of money.

Why not go with a '04 or '05 350Z to significantly lower your payments and you could even keep all of your mods?

The reason why im getting rid of the Z is because of the state im in, it snows all winter so i cant drive it, and all summer im usually out on my bike so i barely have time to drive it im paying for nothing pretty much, thanks for all the advice, its a really nice Rx7 but since i hear the engines and such are **** then im staying away from that..i had a scion tc before it was crap i hated the car and i dont like the rsx,lol
but ill have to check around for insurance prices and such for the evo. any other suggestions for cars?

Why not get a used IS300 or something, since it sounds like your bike is getting all of your attention when the weather permits.

rx7 always get a bad rap. the only reason they were un reliable is because of all the emissions crap they were required to have if you take all that stuff off they are plenty reliable. I had one for 3 years after i got rid of emissions controls it never gave me a problem had it for 30k and i say atleast 10k of that was track days. know that was off topic but i wouldent go with either one they are both goin to be expensive to have.

I'd choose the Evo, simply because the RX7 FD3S is a nightmare. Sure it can be powerful, but it's an attention *****.

The Evo's insurance will be a lot higher than the Z. IIRC, it's #1 on the list of most expensive vehicles to insure (excluding exotics, etc.)

Both will drain your money quicker than the Z.
