From AWD to the Z
Hey guys
I'm in the market for a 08 Z
I own a 03 WRX and love it, but just need something more....conventional, in my own terms i suppose hehe
but I am going to test drive a 6 spd coupe today after work, and i wanted any info you all might have as far as pricing
i've already had them drop below invoice on a nogaro red base model with carpeted floors and splash guards, roughly 27'000 is what they said.....
is that decent or could i get better with the right squeezing of words?
any advice is appreciated, and i'm here for help not flames
thanks!

and he's trying to do like 28k even on msrp without rebate i believe haha

but it's a base and i'm actually looking at a few colors, i really just want one hehe
but it's listed i believe was 28,840.00 was msrp on the silver alloy 08 base 6 spd
had like a few add ons that dealers put on the usual
but over all looked great, i was hoping for advice on what to say to drop that price cause i know i could get close to 25k, just need to know what to say lol

someone else was saying enthusiasts are being advertised for 25k.. I would definitely talk them down. dont let them know you want it badly, know that you have options and that you can always walk and find a better deal if they cant hook it up. no ones really buying cars right now.. use it to your advantage : ]
awesome i appreciate that
cause he seemed quite eager to get me behind the wheel
do you have any idea of what a good asking price would be? 24.5 or so perhaps? cause i dont want to sound like a complete idiot walking in and blow my cover haha
and i did tell him of other options i had with the dealer about 30 min away and he kept stammering about price cuts blah blah blah hehe

they will always be eager to get you to drive it - when someone wants a new car and they take it for a test drive and enjoy that drive.. they want it more. their goal is to sell you the car *now* before you explore other options, if they close the deal they get their comission etc.. so they are going to be really pushy, it's natural
I'd start at 24 to see if you could get him to meet you at 25. your best negotiation tool is knowing what else is available, where at and for how much.
when I bought my Z I made sure the dealer knew I went to another lot first, found a higher trim model and talked numbers with them, before coming to the lot I purchased from. that way, they had a deal they had to beat to earn my business. in reality I went to SEVERAL lots first and found the best deal I could on a GT model.. but in reality, I already knew I wanted a lemans sunset and trim did not matter to me, I just wanted some negotiating tools.
you have a car already, you have all the time in the world.. look up a bunch of Z's local to you on autotrader - find the *best* deal you can even if its not one you want, and use that as your negotiating tool..

awesome, i really appreciate this info that's why i posted here, so many other forums have all been a-holes so i appreciate your help
i'm slightly new to the new car purchasing, been working on used or older cars most of my life, but god these new z's just have caught my eye haha
i'm looking to do bolt on mods and just appearance otherwise so i decided on a base or one step higher, figured it'd be the best to go for anyways

have you already done the research, do you know what each trim offers?
I wanted an enthusiast and up. I really just wanted TCS.. not that you need it most of the time, but I like having it on in the rain. I didn't care for leather or the shitty bose system or navi etc..

so yeah i let the man talk me into test driving the silver alloy, and wow what a car, i've been missing out :]
all in all they actually DID find me a nogaro red in virginia that the msrp was $30,040.00 dead even
and he went blah blah blah and said he could do WITH rebate $27,999.00........
i know i could get better than that from what you all have been saying/doing
so i'm actually going to another local dealer to see if i can get one of their models cheaper and then use that to drop the price i suppose...
i'm either trading in my wrx or personal selling then paying etc.
is there anything else i could say/do to help my end of lowest possible price?
and i appreciate the help most definately

so i've fallen in love with silver alloy...to each his own i suppose
it's 28,840.00 msrp, rebate like what 27,340.00 i know i could bring that down easy, i'm still going to the other dealer to see their blue/white and just get a feel of what price i can get
all in all i'm just looking to get one, i love ALL colors of the Z and to me really any would make me happy
im not set on one at all hehe

I got my silver alloy base for 26k in july. Im sure you can beat that. That was with no rebates, my bargaining tool was a enthusiast a state over for 27k which was cheaper than the 30k they didn't want to come off the price of to begin with.
so i went a drove an auto at another dealer, and hassled with them and they found me a ground stock nogaro red and said about 28,900.00
after some negotiating i got it to 26,500.00 even with rebate
then taxes blah blah
but over all i believe it's on ok deal, anyones thought?

If no other dealers in your area are giving good deals I suppose it's not too bad. Like someone else said, you cant count on getting the same deal as others so if you're happy with it then go for it. Are you trading in your car or selling privately? Are you financing through the dealer, third party, or buying outright?
