??? WTF Trade-In value
OK, so I took my 08 Touring to the dealership to contemplate getting the 370... I know like I said I was just contemplating it...
It's in really good shape, I've had it for 14 months and there are 15k miles on it..
They offered me 22k for it... WTF? I double checked edmunds and KBB and they both valued the car at 21.5...
Seriously? I paid 31.5 for it a little over a year ago..
Suggestions? Autotrader? I figured it would be worth at least 25 and realistically 27k...

LOL - I read that and was like wow - they offered you something in the 20s!
you should be relieved. you won't be able to sell it for too much more privately.
keep it if you don't want to feel like you're kicked in the nuts. the depreciation is crazy atm.

lol 22k is pretty good, I used to sell cars and the LESS I pay for your trade, the MORE I make. So I would always low ball and offer usually a few thousand under wholesale, the more educated buyers would work it back up to a fair price for their trades, and the not so educated ones would take the bait. Thats life man. Your best bet is to go to a dealership that isn't paid on commission, and see what they can offer you. Or check out the internet/fleet department because most are payed on volume.

Depreciation

That's par for the course. The biggest depreciation is when you drive it off the lot. At least it'll depreciate less from here on!

Looks like it's time for a reality check. Welcome to Economics 101.
When you drove the car off the lot 14 months ago, it went from 31.5K to being worth about 24K almost instantly. A new model year release, 15K miles, poor auto sales and a recession have all conspired to eat another 3 or 4K away.
I saw a new Enthusiast this morning for $26K. The best thing you can do is hold on to the car for a few years. If you absolutely have to have a 370Z, then be prepared to take it up the a$$. You have to pay to play (with the latest toys).

And not to mention you will still be on the same margin if the economy was good
Good economy trade 25 new car 35 margin 10k
Bad economy trade 22 new car 32 margin 10k
It all how you look at it, If you want a 370 be patiant and try to sell yours private party
