I got my 04.5 for 19999 from the stealership with only 24k on it. I drove myself crazy checking auto trader .com everyday for 4 months straight til I found my baby.

2 years ago with 8k miles. Of course I hope to keep it until we get flying cars so I was willing to pay a bit more.

if the top of your budget is 12K and you just want a fun 2 seat sports car that will get some attention....the S2000 might be a better choice. the first few model years are starting to get really affordable, and the F20/F22 series engine has proven to be just as rock solid reliable as any other honda...

i used to have one, they are great cars. maybe look into those as well? overall ownership costs seemed to be lower on my S2000 as well, better MPG, cheaper tires etc...good luck with whatever you decide though.

Given the RIGHT circumstances (someone leaving town for a new job, a financial tight spot, illness, wants a different car for whatever reasons...), you just might be able to take advantage of a s-w-e-e-t deal. Keep looking and good hunting!

without doing any research i would think you could get an 03 S2000 for 12K.
if you have actually saved 12K why not use it as a down payment and take out a 6K auto loan and get a nice used Z?

or if 13K is the max you can get approved for, save a few grand up and put that down on a more expensive (nicer) Z.

just a few more thoughts...don't know your exact situation though.

Seems like you are broke as hell. Buying a sports car would be a mistake. Do yourself a favor and get a new Civic. It comes with a warranty, it's reliable and easy/cheap to maintain.

It's the American way. Screw finances and budget, get the BIG car/house to impress others.

Who cars if you live in a cardboard box and eat cat food. YOU have a cool car (that you won't be able to properly maintain).

I bought an 04 touring with < 30k miles recently for 15k.. I would think you could get an 03 or 04 base with more miles for 12k fairly easy
