Negative. Most 06's don't end until 2010 for the warranty. And the oil consumption from my dealer for my 06 is good for 6 years.

So you're right about is having less torque and being the heaviest. But the slowest is def not. All depends on the driver mod.

^^^"Every Nissan is backed by a 36-month/36,000-mile limited vehicle coverage and a 5-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain coverage. "

it's whichever comes first my friend, whichever comes first

and if the 06 has 60,000, the time is up for that little guy

lol...and comaprison in looks, the 06+ oem front bumpers really compliment the z better than the previous years. but if you want performance, of course the track. you can easily buy oem parts to make the track model look updated.

how much slower is the 03 vs 06 in terms of 1/4 times? i don't mind being a tick or two behind but if there's a huge difference then i dunno

Go for the O6!!! Something is fishy about the '03s mileage, it sounds way too low. On the other hand the '06s sounds a little high but, honest. Go for the '06, if it consumed oil it would’ve been fixed taken care by now.

PROS for 06
-updated headlights, taillights, front bumper, interior, active power steering, redesigned intake box, bigger front rotors (on the base), and no tranny problems like the 03's had.

+ it's not a 6 year old care!

I have an '03 with 50k on it. The intake box isn't really a pro considering he said he was going to put an intake on it, and as for the brakes, bigger front rotors on the heavier '06 are still no comparison to the lighter '03 with brembo's.

Id keep looking honestly.
I spent a year looking for my Z.
got an 04.5 touring 6spd for under 17k with only 29K miles on it back in January.

Of the two you are talking about, the track model would be the no brainer...though you'ld have to make sure the tire feathering was not a problem on that 03.
but honestly I think you can find one with lower miles. Id stick with an 03 or 04.5 You might have to travel a little to get it (I drove 450 miles to pick mine up)..
but the lower miles are worth it IMHO.

i would think an 03 fully loaded track with 50k for 14,500 is a steal. i was planning to try and talk him down a bit too. is past 50k something to worry about with these cars?

^No 50K miles is nothing (as long as rountine maintinence was done). There are twin turbo guys out there with over 50K miles, and still running strong!

i road race so this mattered but the 06 also has more sound cockpit dampening and speed sensitive steering the 03 does not.

It is a steal.

I paid 14,200 for my 03 Enthusiast with 45k miles on it in really good condition back in March. I found cheaper ones but I wanted Daytona Blue. Either way, I was looking for a track for a long time. If it had been a track, It could have been Black, Red, Maybe even Le Mans and I probably would have still wanted it. I'm satisfied with my 03 though. Pick up that track for me though! It's a steal with the leather and Navi
