Default Not sure if I found a deal or not

I have been looking for a clean 350Z for months now and finally found one I think fills the bill. It's a black 2004 6 spd Touring Roadster. The seller is the second owner and it has 36K miles on it. He was asking $18,500, but will settle for $17,000.

It's very clean, and obviously well taken care of. The outside is flawless, and the interior is in perfect condition also. It has the nissan 35th anniversary wheels on it that he claims were purchased with new tires on them at 18K miles. I didn't see any obvious feathering or other unusual wear on them, but then again I'm no tire expert.

I was not really looking for a roadster, since here in Ohio, I might get 6 months of on and off "top down" driving if I'm lucky, but nice Z's at a decent price are really hard to find in this area, I didn't want to pass this one up if it's a good deal.

Any comments or suggestions from the experts out there is greatly appreciated.

I really like the car, it's just that never having owned a convertible is making this a tough decision.

Maybe I can get some pro's and con's from those of you that have experience with soft tops.

If you dont want the roadster, then you should not get it. Go look for a coupe.

an 04 coupe with 36k miles should cost less than 17k

I paid 19K for a 2004 base coupe 6spd 4 years ago with 12k miles if that tells you anything. Personally i hate the roof line on the roadster but the price is ok imo.

The look of the roadster, with the top up, is not really a consideration for me. In the spring and summer the top will be down 90% of the time and in the fall and winter, it will be garaged. I hate to admit it, but it will most likely be an expensive fair weather toy.

I searched for and read most of the roadster posts I could find, and they mostly debate about the "top up/down" appearance of the car. As far as I'm concerned, if the dependability of the top and its drive mechanics are fairly dependable, I will be happy with the rest of the car.
