This is becoming extremely difficult for me to decide...
I have someone that is serious about buying my car, after I return it to mostly stock. And he's made me what I think is a great offer... $15k (for my 2003 w/ 70K miles)
I've been wanting to upgrade to an 07 or 08 (for all the obvious reasons) but never could justify it. This might finally be the right time.
For the people who have made a similar change...was it worth it??? Help me decide! I would LOVE to start over in a newER Z

heck yeah. you can get a HR with 20k on it for about $19k tops. Take all yoru cool parts and put them on the new one. Id do it. Make sure you can find a new one you like and be patient. You might be without a z for a bit. Id do it for sure however the only way up is to the 370 and i dont want one of those.
Hey Johnny, I'm from AZ too, what's up?
Anywho, I have raced several 2003-2006 stick 350's with my 07 auto and to be honest, having the HR does make that much of a difference. I've also driven a few older z's before buying mine and the interior is also nicer and it's just more refined, and you can't beat the rev limit
. And that's a great price you're being offered, damn. I got mine with 12k miles on it from the credit union for 18.3K, take the money and run!

Sorry, unfortunately I haven't made the switch, since I am currently shopping around for a Z. However, if he keeps his word, $15k for your car is a GREAT deal for you. I've seen many 03's (didn't say what model yours is) with similar mileage sell private party for much much less, ~12k cash. Take that $15k, and go get yourself a newer model. Hope that helped motivate you to take this chance while you have it so you don't kick yourself later when you want to sell it and can't get this good a deal! Beautiful 03' though btw, very nice rims.
So… you own a six year old car with about normal mileage that someone is willing to buy for the Blue Book value.
The requirement (that you state) is returning it to stock. That appears to be just a normal transaction except for “returning it to stock”?
So, the next question is what will it cost to “return it to stock”?
And if you do this (“return it to stock”), can you get anything for the parts you remove?
If you do the math, I’ll bet your choice is keeping what you already own.
But… if you are addicted to mods, then all bets are off and you should trade this car for a newer model on which you will do wonderful additions/upgrades.

Haha thanks for all the responses guys. Its actually my neighbor who's parents are wanting to buy it for him. He's been looking at a few Z's lately but in much worse condition than mine. His dad came over the other night and made the offer. And after I said "no," he made it clear that he seriously wants his son to have that car. So I told him I'll think about it and he said he wants to buy within the next month.
As far as mods go...besides obvious exterior:
K&N Typhoon Intake
Kinetix V+ Plenum
DC Sport Ceramic Headers
Kinetix HFC's
HKS design exhaust
Osiris tune from UpRev

Do it for sure. Take all the goodies you can.. Then you might need to do a new exhaust again cuz your surely not going to take the headers off. But whatever .. I'd say its a good idea. Especially if your not planning on going FI. You get another 30whp!!! And an all around better Z. I bought a 06' in 08' and I hate myself for not researching the motor. Now I have an oil burner, when I coulda had an HR!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and OP, just to put some things in perspective, in May I bought my 03 Z, fully loaded with nav and DVD power everything and 32k miles for 16k after all the BS from a DEALERSHIP. And it was the Acura Scottsdale, so 15k for your 70k miles is an excellent deal
I went from an '03 Touring 6 spd to a '07 Touring 6 spd and love it. But my switch was cuz my '03 got hit and totalled. The '07 is a much better car in all ways. I assume you , like me, had most if not all the first year bugs. The '07 has none of those and the HR engine is great. Btw, your car looks great.
