Default Could use some advice Fast (2nd 350z) going in 3 hrs to look !!

Hey guys I used to own a 2003 touring 350z (auto ... i know i know ) anyways I bought a 2007 GTI (6spd) a few months back cause it was a killer deal but I'm growing VERY bored of it and wanted to get back into a 350z . Anyways I owe 11k on it and the current trade in value is 14500 so it'd pretty much be a $3500 down payment I'm looking at one right now that's current price is $12999. However I called up and they said it has 97k miles on it which scares me going from my first 350z that had 48k miles and this GTI that has 39k miles. I figure I can talk them down to about 11500 (hopefully lower) and with my trade in I'd be down to about $8000 worth of payments.

Also any tips about how to get the best price for the car would be appreciated . I'm looking to go out in about 3 hours and go look at it so fast responses would be helpful too.

are you buying the car from the dealership? cause you can just bargain with them until your comfortable with the price, and there's nothing wrong with an auto Z cause i own one well good luck!

Default Hmm

My last car was an 04 vr6 gti and while I love my z I miss my vdub. I would steer clear of a used z with that kind of mileage. I picked up my 03 with 34k 6 months ago for 15k with a 100k 2 year powertrain warranty. Touring 6spd btw. And frankly I prolly could have gotten it cheaper.

Theres always the option of putting some money into that 2.0turbo. You'd be surprised the amount of power you can get out of it. Otherwise I would say spend the extra change and get a good deal on a low mileage z. High mileage sports cars are a big redlight in my book.

I wouldnt buy it without a mechanic taking a look at it and doing the usual test. After that i would prepare to dump some $ into replacing the usual parts that fail over the 100k mark. Alternator, water pump etc etc. After all that is done you will have a reliable car.

I'd still have a hard time financing a car that had 100k on it.

Bro do more research. Buying from dealer something with almost 100k miles, dangerous. Check where it came from, probably on a trade in? Check history, mechanical history etc. Its LONG out of warranty so check service records with nissan etc etc.

I honestly wouldn't do it. imho.

Why are you buying from a dealership? Go on Craigslist and find a manual 350z with lower miles for the same price! Just be patient. And try to sell your VW on craigslist as well. you'll get more out of it. It think dealerships are only good for buying new cars, unless your rich and dont mind spending more for used cars

Don't buy it!

I bought my 2003 Touring 350Z for 12,000 even in 08 with 48,000 miles. 12,999 is WAY too high for that year/mileage. Unless they come into the ~10,000 or below range I wouldn't go back to look at it.

be patient.. i wouldnt buy one with any mor then 50k miles.. maybe im just paranoid but you could def find a 03-05 with under 50k for the same price.. and theres also a good chance you can find a 1 owner car who just previously paid it off and want something new and will sell for a killer deal.. ive seen a couple cean Zs on here and autotrader recently that i would trust way more then that Z.. And you could get more money selling the VW yourself, then you would be able to put the same amount down and have extra money for all those mods you know you are going to want : )

The only way it would make sense is if you got a good deal and build the motor and drop that in and you'll prob have to replace all the bushings in the car (let alone the shocks) to get it to handle like new.... let us know how everything went though....

Yeah, I've looked into modding the Vdub but throwing money into something I don't really want is just stupid. I LOVED my Z when i had it and when I finally got cash from the insurance company there were no Z's available for a decent price, and I really needed to get one since i was using my mom's car to get to work and back. I'm trying to sell the Vdub on craigslist atm but no one's biting. tomorrow I'm going in to look at an 07 BASE Z that is listed at 16,999 maybe i can talk them down maybe not but I'm just trying to get payments in the ~$220-240 range ( first Z was at 300/mo and this Vdub is at $195 ) the Vdub is a really nice car that gets great gas mileage but its just doesn't have that "cool" factor the Z had, nor is it as fun to drive ( RWD till death )

If the 07 Z doesn't work out i'm ganna go to a shop and get the 5 hour test reflash that APR has that boosts the vdub from 200hp 207 tq ----> 252hp 303tq (93 octane) or 246hp 282tq (91 octane) reflash costs 599.00 + tax so idk but i've REALLY got my mind set on getting back into a 350z
