Default Nubee- asking for Advice on Used Purchase

I've toiled thru the 100FAQ- to bone up on all that is z. I'm looking to purchase a used z for the good months in OH, and have a 2nd car for winter. I have been over the sale sites for the past 3 months- waffling btwn a z and an s2K, and have come to the z-side.
option 1;
Local stealership has an 04.5 Enth Roadster that has dropped down to $15.9, 57k miles, 6spd, 18"factory rims. I have test drove the vehicle.
Via autocheck, 2 owner- orginal a lease- sold at aution 2x. Questions;
1) should I be concerned about "sold @ auction"?
2) The past 2 yrs history has been low miles ~ 7k/yr- red flag?
3) should I ask or purchase extended warranty for a piece of mind?
4) when the top was dropped the cover did lay flush- sat about 1" up, when asked one of the sales peeps came out, looked at it- then one just pushed it down and it stayed. Should I be concerned or does it just need an adjustment?
5) Thinking of offering $14k, or $15k OTD w/ some kind of ext warranty. Fair?

Option 2- there is a PP selling an 05 Enth roadster, standard rims, 6spd, 51k miles, that is 500 miles away, asking $14.5k. 3rd owner. Have not test road-
If they would go down $1k, this maybe the deal.

thoughts?

Which have you found easier re-selling- coupe or roadster?

thanks!

Dealers send cars to auctions when they don't want to handle the sale of the vehicle themselves. There can be all sorts of reasons for that, but I'd think that they'd be more likely to sell it themselves if it's a really good car that'll bring top dollar with little chance for problems before or after the sale.

The low miles indicate it's not a daily driver. That's usually a good thing.

Extended warranties are often very the cause of serious disputes about coverage. Some of the companies are total ripoffs. It's truly a 'buyer beware' purchase.

Since a lot more people buy new coupes, I'd say a lot more buy used coupes, too.

Welcome. Auction is no big deal. Many dealers will not keep a 6 year old vehicle on the lot. Nothing wrong with it. It simply does not meet their standards.

$15,900 is ridiculous. Make a reasonable offer and stick with it.

Agreed. Set your limit before you walk through the door and dont let your anxious side through. Unless your trading a vehicle in and utilizing the tax difference, PP all the way. No need to pay for a showroom and sales people.

Thanks peeps for the info and moving this thread to its rightful place. Did some reading up on other threads- as well as the one dedicated to the 350z roadster. Now, I'm a little aprehensive on the whole "roadster" route. It seems that, sooner or later- you will run into a problem w/ the top. Do not operate in cold weather. I would gather frequency of use would be a factor as well.

Correct. The top of the coupe is steel. Just wax it.
The top of the roadster is a wear item. At some point it must be replaced.

Did the seller accept?
