About to buy a Z, which is the best model for snow?
Agreed

However, I dont know that color helps in the snow. I would suggest a beater also as someone mentioned earlier. FWD would be easiest for that... just make sure it has a defroster and heat-- i know how those mid west winters are!!
If you don't have VDC, you might try getting some wide rims and tires to increase your traction. I think someone else on here can tell you some widths and offsets (and maybe help you roll/trim your fenders if you so desire).
Unless you enjoy spinning out, sliding or fishtailing on the road...
But as far as snow, i dunno, get a DD?

I drive my Z year round and I live in WI, buy a set of snow tires, don't drive like a retard and you're fine. People who say a Z is impossible to drive in the snow don't know how to do it. That being said expect your car to take a little more beating due to ice chunks from other car's wheel wells.

Any of the VDC 350z with snow tires should be doable if you have done a rwd sports car in the snow before. I have done it, and hated it (not the Z).
For snow buy a beatup 4x4 jeep cherokee 4.0L. Got mine for $900 and it was a blast in the deep snow. When everyone is stuck at home, I was out enjoying the open roads.
As long as you don't wreck it, you can usually sell it for right about what you paid for it come summer. I kept mine since I've found it handy to have around.

I have a set of blizzaks on for the winter and it will get you moving in the snow. Night and day difference between them and stock summer tires. They're expensive though. I bought a high mileage 95 Eclipse last winter to get me through--cost just as much as snow tire.
