Default About to buy a Z, which is the best model for snow?

Hey im looking at buying a Z but i also live in wisconsin so i will be driving it in the snow as well..

i remember hearing something about traction vdc something is not in the base models?

Anyways im looking for a Black Z from anywhere between 10-14k...I have looked on craigslist and not much luck so far...anywhere you guys would recommend me looking at besides craigslist and this forum?

Is there a certain mile mark/model i should be wary about? is there anything i will have to worry about before driving in snow?

thank you

VDC will safe your life, its 100 times safer than regular tcs

Base models don't even have traction control so stay away from them.

The only model Z i would ever buy is a track

dont buy a Z for the snow .. in fact dont ever drive your Z in the snow .. it is a rear wheel drive sports car. no model does well in the snow.

in the snow is is very close to impossible. be prepared to wreck... anything short of full snow tires such as blizzacks and you wont go anywhere.... if you buy a Z pick up a beater for the winter... $800 89 honda civic or something.

Buy a daily driver and keep the Z for better weather.

Considering how inexpensive they've become it should be part of your purchase equation.

Default Traction

If you don't have VDC, you might try getting some wide rims and tires to increase your traction. I think someone else on here can tell you some widths and offsets (and maybe help you roll/trim your fenders if you so desire).

Unless you enjoy spinning out, sliding or fishtailing on the road...

But as far as snow, i dunno, get a DD?

Wide tires in the snow? That's horrible advice.

+1.

Your suppose to have thinner, smaller wheels and a taller tire. The GF has Blizzaks on the G35 coupe, drives fine but we obviously take the Malibu when we can barely see the street which has happened only twice last winter here in Michigan.

Some of you really need to stay quite instead of spreading around bad info which just gets repeated and repeated.

+10000 on getting another DD for the winter. RWD + snow = disaster.

I didn't read any of the other comments, so forgive me if I repeat any info......

You should get a touring model, and then get a cheap beater car. Actually you should get the beater car first ( what are you driving now? ). A Z can go threw a little bit of snow if you have really really nice snow tires, but that will cost as much as a beater car.
