Arrow Advises on 2003 Redline 350Z!

Hi MY350Z, an old friend of my dad is selling his 03 350Z with 30k miles on the clock at a very decent price (10k dls).

I´ve read the top 100 questions thread and also all the other threads with the issues the car might have (feathering, axle clicking and so on) in order to take a really close look on the car and not having problems on the long run.

The car was always stored on a garage and the only visible details are some rock chips on the front bumper and scratches on the back bumper. Everything else seams to be fine.

I am 21, I live in Mexico and I currently drive an 09 Sentra SE R Spec V. The version the sold us here was the Touring trim I guess (HID, leather heated seats, BOSE). The owner is going is leaving the country and is going to live in Miami so that why he is selling his car.

I´m really looking forward on buying it so I would really appreciate some advises and tips in order to make sure the car is fine.

Best Regards and thanks for your time,

P.S: the car is currently at a Nissan Dealership thats why I need to hurry up and make up my mind

Spelling is one thing, but why the insult, dude? Give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that english is not his first language. You'll sleep better at night.

hey Volk, how many languages do you speak fluently? shut up : P

pay a reputable mechanic to give it a solid look over. typically around 100$ in the states. I've seen a lot of people avoid buying a bad vehicle after having it inspected.

hopefully there isn't a hidden reason why the car is so cheap, but cosmetically, it is in good enough condition.

Arrow :D

So I just test drove the car. Its amazing, even though it doesnt have the straight line acceleration as my brother´s car (Chipped SEAT Leon Cupra), it has amazing grip even with those fugly and heavy rims. The exhaust sound is great, I cant imagine how adictive it will be with an aftermarket exhaust. Brakewise I really think it can be improved since I noticed some fade after some heavy passes on mountain roads.

The interior is in pristine condition. However, it has the so mentioned 3rd gear grinding if its not shifted above 3.5k rpms or double clutched and the rear axle clicking. I printed the TSB (mexican dealerships never get those ¬¬) and the dealeship is going to fix the axle clicking, new engine oil, new transmission oil, coolant flush/refill and alingment when the OEM wheels arrive.

We have always used Royal Purple (Spec V and CUPRA), which viscosity would you recommend 5w-30 or 0w-40 (we rarely se climate above 27°c).

Which is the BEST transimission oil? I think might help a little bit on the grinding.

It doesnt have the Brembo brakes. is it safe to use DOT4 on the OEM brakes or should I stay with the DOT3?

Any other recommendation?

Best regards and thanks for your time,

yes you can use DOT 4 compliant. You should try out Motul RBF 600. I use that on my non-brembo 05 350z and its outstanding. That is a really great low mileage z. If I were you, I'd take a look at the tire in the front for any unusual wear. Also do use the brakes hard and see if your steering wheel vibrates. That may indicate turning the rotors.

great sports car. The roads in mexico city probably suck *** so I would not lower it at all.

si necesitas mas ayuda mandame un PM y hasta te puedo escribir en espanol.

The 350Z is not for you.

If you want a Z you would have bought one. Instead you bought a Sentra.
