US Vs. Canadian pricing!!!
I've just done some research and have found out that the 350Z automatic touring model, is MUCH cheaper in the US than Canada.
$45,400CAN ($34,605US)
http://www.nissan.ca/en/vehicles/350...ig_touring.asp
$31,690US ($41,572CAN)
http://us.nissan.clientsites.carspec...55513320030825
That's a difference of $3828CAN or $2915US!
These models are pretty much identical right? (except for daytime running lights and MPH/KPH speedo) Why is it cheaper in the US?

This reminds me of that song in the south park movie........"Blame Canada"
Seriously though, my un-educated opinion is that it probably has to do with whatever the importing country charges Nissan. I'm guessing that they are priced differently in the UK and Japan vs. the US.

It's cheaper in the U.S. now because the Canadian dollar has appreciated alot in the past year compared to the US dollar.
If you did the same comparison a year ago, it would actually have been cheaper in Canada.
The current exchange rate is about US$0.76 for every Cdn$. But last year it was about US$0.65 per Cdn$.

Thanks for that info. I didn't know our dollar had gone up by that much.

Actually you have it backwards. With our dollar appreciating you would think that the prices would be getting cheaper here in Canada and more expensive in the US where their dollar has been taking a beating.

No, I'm saying that if you buy a 350z in the U.S. today from a U.S. dealer for US$31,690 (using the same figures provided at the beginning of the post), converting that to Canadian dollars, it will cost you about Cdn$41,700 (using a US$0.76/Cdn$1.00 exchange rate)
But if one year ago, you bought a 350z in the U.S. for US$31,690, converting that to Cdn$, it would have cost you about Cdn$48,750.
So if that same model actually sells for Cdn$45,400 at Canadian Nissan dealers (and that hasn't changed much in the past year), then it's cheaper to buy a 350 in the U.S. today and convert to Cdn dollars. But one year ago, that would not have been a good idea because after the exchange you would be over the Canadian dollar price offered by Canadian nissan dealers.
You may think that the price SHOULD be getting cheaper in Canada because of the stronger Canadian dollar, but dealers aren't going to change their prices because the exchange rate is fluctuating. I think they set the prices based on what the market will bear.

I think the big difference in price is becuase in Canada the Touring Auto comes with 18" wheels, while in the U.S. it comes with 17" wheels.

ichiban, i like your name. i do enjoy a nice bowl of ichiban noodles. particularly with green peas mixed in. i must remember to add the peas at the beginning of preparation, though.
like ichiban noodles, however, you should take things in good fun.
my 41000 or 49000 vehicle in fact was 45000, as everyone else who bought that model paid. however, it could have been 41000 or 49000, and would still:
1) be considered a large amount of money to me
2) not be enough to melt the 6 inches of snow falling at this very moment, shattering any hope of being able to drive my car, as mentioned previously
