Hey guys, I'm in the process of looking to buy a 350z and it made a lot of sense to join this forum and gain some knowledge.

Little about myself, 25 yrs old, live in Iowa and I'm currently looking for a used black 350z. Initial thoughts from reading some forum posts is that 07+ is probably a good year to start, and Enthus. / Touring.

My goal is to get as much knowledge as possible so I know enough about what to look for and expect from buying a Z.

General thoughts/questions- I'm looking to purchase a used Z that's less than 50K miles, $15-25k. Not exactly sure what year to look for but from looking at some previous posts 07+ seems to be good; model to look for-from what I've read on the forum Touring seems to fit what I'm looking for in terms of leather seats, general comfort; how well the car handles in the rain; maintenance/cost to own-i guess reliability-i own a mazda and it's a POS I will never buy a mazda again; any additional thoughts/wisdom when buying a Z- general consensus seems to be patience is key.

Thanks guys and I hope to learn much from you guys.

Default Try these two threads to start out

I would suggest you read the following two threads as a good starting point:

A lot of good information in there.

Yeah I did take a quick look at those two links, but found it only moderately helpful as I'm interested in intel to purchase a Z not how many miles I had on it, having sex in it since I don't have a Z yet etc. It was good to have a warning to the interior plastic crap of the car and the forewarned bad bose.

Why 2007-newer Z? Was it due to some recalls and issues for the earlier Z's?

Another big question mark for me, is the ability of the Z to handle the Iowa winters with Winter tires. Of course I know the car is light and RWD but with winter tires on is this car feasible in the winter or am i going to be sliding all over the place?

Does Touring have TCS? I know the Enthusiast does so does that mean the Touring does too?>

Oh yes, the main use of this car would be driving on the regular roads and highways as I love the look of this car and not for racing purposes. Thanks guys.

Welcome. Maintenance cost and reliability is a common question. The 350Z is a performance sports car, and by its very nature, will be more expensive to run than say a Toyota Corolla.

New owners are often shocked when they look at costs such as $800 for tires.
