Might only have 1050 (really?) miles on it, but it's totally out of warranty, and that's a big deal. $26K is a 2008 Nismo price. I'd say 18K would be my highest offer on the '06, and it had better look like it just rolled out of the factory. FWIW, I paid just over $22k for my '08 base, brand new 23 months ago.

$18K is still the very top. As I mentioned, no warranty. Also think about what your insurance company will pay you if it's stolen/totalled. And, unlikely a bank will give you an $18K loan on an '06. Yes, it's an unusual circumstance, but there are plenty of Z's for sale, and for $18K you could have a low mileage '08 with the HR motor, and none of the issues I just mentioned. Don't fall in love with a common car like a Z, as nice as it may be.

Although the car only has 1050 miles, 26k is a bit too high. For that price you could find a Nismo or even a used 370.

$26K is absolutely insane for an '06, 1050 miles, or not. The dealr is just waiting for a sucker to come along.

Agreed. I wouldn't offer more than $18,000. If they don't bite, walk away.

I'd pay 18k at most because of the super low miles.

You should also be considerate of the maintenance this car will require. All belts and hoses should be replaced, along with the engine coolant. Oils in the engine, gearbox and diff, too. Most importantly, the brake and clutch systems will need to be well-flushed with some new high-quality fluid, as brake fluid collects a lot of moisture over time, especially 5 years. Might want/need new tires, as well. If you can't do this work yourself, figure the added cost into your final purchase price.

It's best to base a car's value off of bank value (trade in value), because that is what value any loan is going to be be calculated from. Regardless of the purchase price, bank is only going to approve you for a certain percentage of the value of the car (80% used is a practical cap).

Bank Value - 2006 Nissan 350Z Coupe Track 6MT
Excellent - $21k (bank may loan up to 16k)
Good - $20k (bank may loan up to 15k)
Fair - $18k (bank may loan up to 14k)

Also, that is going to be the best price you can get if something comes up and you have to turn around and sell it. So it's a safe place to start. "Good" will be the top dollar that the insurance company would total it for if you wrecked it on the way home from the dealership. Just keep all of that in mind.

Just to make sure you aren't upside down, I wouldn't buy it for more than 16k. Usually, I'd also say make sure that you can put down 25-50% of the purchase cost, but with interest rates so low, that's no biggie as long as you don't get yourself upside down.

Check KBB.com for more info. However, remember that retail and private party sale doesn't really mean anything. Look at the trade-in/bank value numbers.

Why would someone buy a Z and then only drive it 1k miles over 5-6 years? What a waste.

Just because it has almost no miles doesn't mean it is 'like new' anymore. I'd rather have one with 15-30k miles so i know it didn't just sit there and have the gaskets/seals/hoses get ruined by no use.

Though, good luck with buying a Z. I hope you find one you like.. they're awesome to drive

I paid 19 two years ago for an 06 touring with a new engine and 0 miles on it...they're way outta line on that price. Maybe only 1k miles due to oil consumption and they swapped the engine for new??? Either way, leave it behind.

1050 miles miles in 5 years is about 17.5 miles/month. Oh sure. Run a CarFax on this bad boy.

You'll see cars like that pop up here in south FL from time to time. Often they're kept at condo's or homes used only in the winter. There was recently a 4K mile '05 or '06 Z roadster on the Tampa/St. Pete craigslist.

dont buy it. way overpriced, if its from any dealership they can give you a warranty if they dont offer one on that car with that low of miles they know something is wrong with it.
I passed on a z with 9k miles on it when searching for my z because it was sketchy, no one just lets a car sit, must be a lemon that they couldnt return and got stuck with a car no one wanted.

if you have close to 26k go buy the nicest 35,000 mile z out there, pic your favorite color and go look at em, you can buy any of them in the world for under 19k.
i bought an 06 z with 40k miles for under 18, not a scratch or dent, with a +30k warranty, and one of the only 3 orange z's for sale in all of expensive *** cali.

so thats the price range of these things no higher than 19 ever, and with under 70k no less than 16 for a nice one.

when looking for one make sure to look for one that the owner took care of paint is most important IMO since it will cost 5k for a new one, look for good clear coat that was owned by someone that didnt wash their car with sandpaper. if someone washes their car like a j@ck@$$ with dishsoap, abrasive spunges and beach towels they will most likely do everything wrong with their car=no oil changes, skip/grid gears, bottom out on speed bumps etc, make sure you dont buy from someone that secretly hates cars and loves honda refrigerators with wheels.
