Default looking to buy, 17K range

I DD a 2005 S2000 and I am ready for something newer (and with more torque).
I want an 07+ enthusiast+ ~40K miles 6 spd. I have been doing a lot of research on pricing and think that 17K is reasonable/fair. I can afford more but do not feel comfortable spending 20K on any car.

Do you guys think 17K is a reasonable price? all the listings here in San Diego are higher.

there is a 07 enthusiast silver 32K 6 spd for 19K in my area. I will try to talk them down to my price.

Z credentials: I drive/mod a 71 240z

I bought my base solar orange 1.5 years ago for 16k with 41,000 miles. I'd imagine now you should be able to get an enthusiast for that or less.

I looked at the car today. Original owner, a lady in 40s. It has the factory aero package with rear lip spoiler and front spoiler that I did not notice.
She said 2 years ago someone backed into the front and the dealer replaced the bumper one headlight and radiator. No salvage. Interior had some small scratches on handles and stuff. Small curbing on 3 of the rims.

The stock shifter kinda put me off. I'm spoiled in the S. will a nismo **** help with the notchy feel? I'm still thinking 17k but I think she owes more.

Awesome Datsun! I can't wait to have enough room to restore a 240/260Z

Sucks you don't live on the east coast, I'd take the S2000 off your hands + some cash for my turn key Z.

+/- $1k... Either way... will you be happy with the 17k you spend? In the end, it's all about if you can live w/ what you paid and afford to do so w/out putting yourself in too much financial burden. You can spend months to try and find that "perfect deal", but you are just putting off having a Z farther down the road. To me, $17k seems pretty reasonable for the year / mileage. Could you find one for $16k if you waited / searched long enough? Quite possibly.

You are right, I could wait and save 1k but I'm ready for the Z now. I'm doing. I'll post pics hopefully this weekend of my newish car.
