How much would you pay?
Made a thread earlier in the year where I decided I was gonna save a bit more and go for an HR year, but I just found this
http://www.patobrienchevysouth.com/V...-OH/1769029843
Price is extremely high, it isn't a track, looks like an enthusiast to me. I was thinking about offering 13k but would like your opinions. Car has no rust even though it is Ohio, everything about it is basically perfect. Didn't get a chance to look under the hood but I will when I go back out to see it. Only thing I saw was exterior/interior so compression test, etc will be done to make sure the car is as good as it looks.

This is a pristine track model.
Beautiful if it drives out like it looks.
The 21k price is off the wall. Its still a
03 Z with low miles.Blue book is...
This baby will be on the lot a long time
at this price.Maybe 13-14k would be reasonable.
As far as waiting to save up for a HR etc.,what
do want out of a Z?Are you a performance guy?
Do you really care if you have a higher revving engine?
Or,does your tastes go toward the original rebirth of
the Z in its best form...a Track with those classic wheels?
Its your choice.
IMO,whoever buys this car, it would be a sin not to leave it in
its original state.

So with what you just said, you want something that'll last. So considering that the 03 is already about 10 years old, and also being 1st year model with tons of issues not worked out yet, it seems like a rather poor choice.
Get yourself an 07-08. Most reliable years for the 350Z. It should have no trouble lasting you another 5-10 years as of this date. Your biggest concern would be more along the line of an idiot running a red and totaling your car.

Right now I have an 05 RX8 auto that I want to replace. Best candidate for that is a 350z. I'm not a performance guy, not a race guy, just want a good sports car that will do what I want: look good and be fun. I would rather get a low mileage car, this car is one. Maybe 5 or 10 years down the road I'll turbo it. Other then that it is just probably an exhaust, clutch, few bolt ons. Right now I'm just trying to find the best deal for me, regardless of year or engine. So basically what would you guys pay for this car?
17k from a private owner.Of course,alot depends on the supply&demand for
Z's in your area. This is from a dealer not some guy that needs the cash.
With this info in mind, depending how bad you want this gem,I'd offer 15k.
Keep in mind, the VQ engine is built under good maintenance to last 200k
mi.My O3 has 79k,runs like new.Yes,its a 10 year old car but the design
is like a new car.
Negotiate!

Besides the tire feathering(I would think this car has been fixed),what
other tons of issues do you know about?Bought my 03 new.Now have almost 10 years. Can't recollect any issues.
How long have you owned a Z?
Issues that were worked out for 04.5+ that may not have been fixed in an 03. Risks of buying 1st year model. Not saying it will have those, but you never know. Some people just don't get TSB done. Oh and that synchro issue with the older transmission. I'm sure it would drive you crazy grinding every time or can't get into gear. There are many reasons to getting an HR.
I got my '08 with 60k miles for 15k. It has a hell of a lot more miles than that '03, but I think you can find a better deal if you keep looking. The dealer had mine listed at 17, and I talked em down 2k.
Just got a call from a dealer. An 05 with 38k miles.
The car doesn't have catalytic converters.

The dealer is offering to sell it to me as is, but I'm not sure about the current regulations on catalytic converters and such.

New car I'm looking at is an 06 with 40k miles, salvage title. Car in that condition without retails for around $16k, the guy wants $12.5k however the car needs airbags. Trying to figure out how much airbags would cost and whether it is a good deal or not. No frame damage (I've seen/ my mechanic told me) and owner says it has good compression. Will get it tested, though. So if I can get the airbags and installation for a good price I'll be interested.
Well it was hit in the front .. But it was fixed.... And I didn't know as much as I do now but ... I had a lot of random bolts missing ... My rear brake wear on the wrong sides and up side down ... Umm air bag wasn't instAlled properly ... Random **** .... I got ripped kinda. It had a turbo kit and volk rims and greddy exhaust and that is what sold me on it ... But I learned my lesson .. And it was good learning exp but think I'd rather had something that wasn't messed with
So do you think that your mistake could have been prevented before you purchased it in anyway? Because I'm looking suggestions on what to look for and how much to pay, and past experiences before I make my decision on whether or not I want this Z.
